I am cheating because I voted for "Work It" as my fave single and nobody wants to hear anyone prattle on about that YET AGAIN. (this will not sway my PMFG6 commentary tho.)

BEST: The Rapture, "House of Jealous Lovers" (and I went on record here a few months ago yawping 'bur hur durh uhn I dun gettit')

WORST: That Big Tymerz song with the really really fresh beat and fucking awful terrible lyrics. That one that's getting all the airplay right now and has lyrics about boring cars (dammit can some MC pls brag about owning a Maserati Ghibli SS for once?)

B-b-but Sterling, surely the *best* thing about Irv Gotti's "Down 4 U" record-label-superadvertisement was Ashanti's silky, anonymous "vocal style," no tossing off lines like "i'll b ur down-ass-chick," no? Or are you all hot and bothered over, ahem, Vita (it can't be Ja, the gawd of pain and lurve forbid! ) "Foolish" was lame though, a repeat X 3.

I'll defend "She Hates Me". It's way catchier and uptempo than that song about getting his ass-smacked. With so many overwraught songs about how women mess up dumbass rock dudes' minds, I can't see the comical one being the worst.

Worst single: "Little By Little" by Oasis is the only song I can remember really hating this year. I feel a bit lame saying that as I just saw the Live Forever Britpop doc and Noel G came across as a lovely bloke but no, LBL is just awful - all the plod of Oasis past plus a lyric out of the Darren "I'm wise, me" Hayes songwriting school. NB Darren Hayes' "Insatiable" is second worst.
