So - my copy of this arrived on Saturday. haha I maybe need Psychoanalysis (and perhaps no coincidence that 'anal' is in the centre of that word here) to help me figure out fully why I spent so much money I don't even have at this particular time of year on something I can foresee not even listening to that much (and I have several of the original cassettes anyway) - I feel I may have bought this largely out of 'commodity fetishism' (though I'm not sure what that means precisely) - and part of me definitely feels I wanted it JUST FOR THE SAKE OF HAVING IT.
TG meant alot to me from '77-'81, but I suspect I've bought this out of a nostalgia for that period.......mind you, reading some of the statements in the 'Industrial News' that came with it, especially GP-Orridge's scathing comparison of 'Punk' with 'Industrial' back then, made me feel more gleeful and inspired about ideas/music than I've felt in many many years, so to an extent it did the job.
But - buying boxed sets for the sake of owning them: classic or dud?

(Duddest thing about it so far is that they have re-issued (albeit slightly different looking) a fucking sow-on patch of their old logo: only 100 of these patches were made during their original lifespan, and I've got one. Pah - thus is a meaningful artefact/totem and a cultural compensation for one's age polluted by Mute commercialism......)
