Sea Devils is fantastic. Last time I watched Dr. Who was probably some rerun thing around 7-8 years ago and it was Sea Devils, I rememeber thinking. "Wow! Dr. Who used to have such great music in the early 70s!"

The Tomb of the Cybermen soundtrack is pretty good. Very creaky and old sounding.

Liek the sound of this thing with the Sea Devils the music in that is totally in yer face and wild moog-y type noise.

Yeah, "The Sea Devils"' soundtrack is something of a masterwork... I would recommend the 1960-69 volume 1 of the Dr Who at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop series... it tends a little too much towards sound effects, but there is some great stuff on there, particularly from "The Macra Terror" and "The Invasion". But why they didn't do complete soundtrack releases for the music from stories like "Fury from the Deep", "Ambassadors of Death" and "The War Games" is beyond me... those scores are some of the very best done for Dr Who. Largely Dudley Simpson, but very different from his usual Tom Baker era style. That reminds me; "City of Death" has a sublime soundtrack that ought to be released in full. We've had the treatments for the more analogue-synth based "Leisure Hive" (Vol. 3; worth getting) and "Full Circle"/"Meglos" (Vol. 4; pretty good), so why not these gems?
Other DW music worth looking for (on probably deleted CDs) or hoping to be released is: any of Mark Ayres' scores for Season 26 (the final year), Roger Limb (?)'s "Enlightenment", Paddy Kingsland's wondrous scores for "Warriors' Gate", "Logopolis" and "Castrovalva"...

The Sea Devils soundtrack, which is indeed great, was recorded in 1972 (for those who care).

Almost all the seventies Dr Who scores were composed by Dudley Simpson(excepting a few like "The Sea Devils" which was Malcolm Clarke), and I believe the reason none of them have turned up on CD yet is that he worked independently of the Radiophonic Workshop, and so the music he produced doesn't fall under their auspices. I heard ages ago that separate releases were planned for his work, but none have surfaced as yet. Probably because of tedious legal reasons no doubt.

There was a fascinating play about the life of Delia Derbyshire broadcast yesterday on Radio 4, which even had cameos from Pete "Sonic Boom" Kember as himself. You can hear it in Realaudio through the BBC website, just go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/arts/afternoonplay.shtml and click "Listen to Monday".
