Search (in no order):

Fake Train : This sounds like Nevermind + Sonic Youth / This is Classic Unwound
New Plastic Ideas : Classic Unwound
The Future Of What : Best "Classic" Unwound
Repetition : More noisy
Challenge For A Civilized Society : "
Leaves Turn Inside You : Somewhat of a departure from earlier material, but amazing and probably the best album

Nonessential:
s/t : Muddy sounding and the song writing is not up to par in most cases

My favorites: New Plastic Ideas and Repetition. I'd start with the former, though. It's a beautiful record.

I second both of die9o's picks.

I spin _The Future of What_ & _Repetition_ the most - JW's right about _The Future..._ being the apotheosis of the "classic" Unwound sound, & _Repetition_ is where the group starts to stretch out & schuck their post-punk skins. The jump from _Challenge..._ to _Leaves Turn Inside You_ is a HUGE jump, though - _Leaves..._ doesn't bear much resemblance to what preceeded it; I admire it more than enjoy it. That's due to me jonesin' their old sturm & drang, though.

I enjoy 'classic' unwound as Jon calls it, as well as their later noisy stuff but I absolutely adore Leaves Turn Inside You. It's just this huge sprawling psychedelic, post-punk orgy of joy.
