Hi,my name is Scott and I live in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and I am going to see Opeth and Neurosis this month(Neurosis as part of a two-night Relapse records showcase-Mastodon,High On Fire,Alabama Thunderpussy,Dillinger Escape Plan,etc,etc..you know,Corecore and noizeboyz, the usual bloody earhole gang)and later in Feb. my brother Danny and his band Bunny Brains are gonna play a fundraiser here and that is always fun.I will not be going to see Johnny Marr and whatever his band is called cuz I'm too scared to.I'm excited to see Neurosis cuz I'm in the mood for rock/psych/metal/drone/folk/multimedia/noise/serious beard music.Howzabout you? Last great show in Philly:Chameleons!!! (I couldn't make the Wire show)

Scott Seward, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 04:11 (twenty-three years ago)

chicks on speed, spoon, idlewild and cato salsa experience are all on the way and i am v v excited. i was gonna see wilco but i can't be arsed anymore. I will probably also have to miss kraftwerk though because they are too expensive and i am now too destitute which is a crying shame..

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 04:19 (twenty-three years ago)

That is sad cuz seeing Kraftwerk is like seeing the German Beatles only they never die cuz they are made outa Volkswagen parts so they are always shiny and wonderful. Ah well, maybe next time.I think I was too lazy to go see Chicks on Speed when they played in Philly, but I wish I had cuz they got the kinda spunk that I need more of! But pray tell, electric sound, where is this happening and where are you? I'm just kinda interested in where everybody hails from.

Scott Seward, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 05:12 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm Michael, I live in New York, and I'm hoping very much to make it to see Herbert at APT on 2/11. before that, I have no idea who's coming to town. I've become such a lax showgoer over the past half-year or so it's ridiculous.

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 05:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Hi I'm Sean! I live in San Francisco! My neighborhood makes me very excited but I have no plans to see any live shows in the near future. I play lots of records, though.

Sean (Sean), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 05:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Johnny Marr!

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 05:28 (twenty-three years ago)

My name is Jody, I live in NYC, and I'm excited about upcoming shows by the Scientists (!), Liquid Liquid (!), and Damo Suzuki. All at the Knitting Factory.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 05:33 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm Charlie, I live in Sydney, and I'm excited by pretty much the exact same things that are exciting ESOJ right now, which would lead me to believe he lives not far from me (well, in the same country at any rate).

Right now, all is full of Big Day Out cos it actually looks father spiffy. Yay summer festivals!

Charlie (Charlie), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 05:54 (twenty-three years ago)

NYC. This weekend: Sightings/Neon Hunk; Japanther/Castro. Next week: Tim Barnes/Shackamaxon (somebody else I forget). Near future: Scientists.

(JBR Street Gang: they're also playing Southpaw, so maybe that's easier for you BKLN types.)

hstencil, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 06:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Low, GYBE, Steve Earle and Willie Nelson are about it for Dallas in the next month or so (I should dig deeper though and check out the Denton scene). We are no indie/avant mecca, to be sure.

High on Fire (mentioned above) did come through town about a year and a half ago and it was awesome.

Aaron A., Tuesday, 7 January 2003 06:15 (twenty-three years ago)

In OC and, um, nothing much. Though the Divine Comedy are playing a local bar at the end of the month, I might go...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 06:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm in Auckland, NZ, and I'm more than somewhat excited about Kraftwerk at the Big Day Out.

Damian (Damian), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 08:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm in Brasilia and all I can see on the horizon for the next couple of months is the bloody Carnival! Aaargh!

phil jones (interstar), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 09:25 (twenty-three years ago)

gygax!, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 09:53 (twenty-three years ago)

I live in Bruges and fuckall is coming around these parts. Hold on, NO!, Rainer Truby is coming. But we'll prolly be too late - just like with Jazzanova - and can't get tix.

nathalie (nathalie), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 09:54 (twenty-three years ago)

I live in Devon in England and I'm off to Brizzol to see the Flips soon.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 10:24 (twenty-three years ago)

i may go and see Windsor For The Derby tomorrow night

and Capitol K on thur...maaaaybe

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 10:26 (twenty-three years ago)

oh, sorry, in london

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 10:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Where are Windsor For The Derby playing, Gareth?

I'm looking forward to seeing the Raincoats and my pals in Linus play at the Spitz on the 15th, and I'm getting excited abt the Spring Heel Jack/Free Jazz face-off a few days later. Further ahead, Uri Caine's trio is also playing the Spitz on May 1st - if you like the sound of a Fender Rhodes (and I do, I do) then this is the gig for you - and in June Zorn brings 'Electric Masada' (whatever that may be) to the Barbican.

Oh, and it looks like I'm going to see the Rezillos on the 17th, but that's really more of a social thing than a music thing.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 10:31 (twenty-three years ago)

i believe it is at the arts cafe, but i will have to check this...it doesnt really seem to have been promoted

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 10:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, I'm going to Spring Heel Jack vs Globe Unity Redux as well.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 10:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I live in Reading, Berks. England.

The most exciting things on the horizon at the moment are going to Bristol on 18/01 to see Flaming Lips and London on 07/04 to see The Magic Band.

Disappointed that Datsuns / Polyphonic Spree / Interpol / Thrills (London 09/02) appears to have sold out but considering Supergrass / Datsuns / Polyphonic Spree (London 25/01) instead.

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 11:13 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm going to see Jay-Z at Wembly, London at the end of January - anyone else going?

Robin Goad (rgoad), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 11:29 (twenty-three years ago)

I live in Edinburgh and have managed to leave it too late to get tickets to see Arthur Lee play Forever Changes in full at the end of the month - hopefully i'll be able to pull a few strings and blag my way in. Other than that i'm going to see Low at the start of February.

leigh (leigh), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 11:41 (twenty-three years ago)

julio. live in london.

will prob see flaming lips and some improv this saturday at sound 323 rec shop, highgate.

''I'm getting excited abt the Spring Heel Jack/Free Jazz face-off a few days later.'' this sounds great as well so I'll try and get there.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 11:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Roger Fascist (Roger Fascist), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 12:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Leicester: Of Montreal, Herman Dune and Marshmallow Coast. It's a Pickled Egg Records extravaganza thing above a dodgy Rock Bar!

flowersdie (flowersdie), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 12:27 (twenty-three years ago)

http://www.brdf.net/agendas/janvier2002/agendajanvier2002_belgique.htm

i'm sort of intrigued to know what Fennesz live is like

Jeff W, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 12:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Listened to any Harper yet Jeff?

Roger Fascist (Roger Fascist), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 13:03 (twenty-three years ago)

I like near Providence, RI. Seeing Sleater-Kinney on Valentine's Day next month (how romantic).

Jim M (jmcgaw), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 13:35 (twenty-three years ago)

I live in Oxford. and I'm jealous of everyone who's going to see The Flaming Lips. I want to go, but both the shows in London are sold out, as is the Low show in Feb.

So I'm getting excited about seeing Teenage Fanclub (must remember to get tickets) and hopefully Sigur Ros (if they're not sold out too)

jellybean (jellybean), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 16:38 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm sort of intrigued to know what Fennesz live is like

Music: really good. Stage presence: none. If you enjoy watching people check their email...

hstencil, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 16:42 (twenty-three years ago)

haven't found any yet Roger - and I have been looking! - save for a battered s/hand copy of a vinyl LP selling for €14.99 (sod that, I thought)

Jeff W, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 16:49 (twenty-three years ago)

sold out, as is the Low show in Feb
damn, I was thinking of going to that. But I saw on their website today that there are two Union Chapel shows scheduled on consecutive nights. Have they added a date, maybe? Or are both sold out?

Jeff W, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 16:53 (twenty-three years ago)

All I know is Jeff - don't bother with Harper's 'The Unknown Soldier'. It's Fuckin' terrible.

Roger Fascist (Roger Fascist), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 16:58 (twenty-three years ago)

I live in Worcester, Ma. and I look forward to itching my crotch because no bands worthy of any listening play in Worcester.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 17:34 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm most excited about casiotone for the painfully alone, mon. jan. 20 @ plant bar in nyc. not the ideal venue, but i'm still jumping up and down with anticipation. looking forward to sightings, as well - their last show at tonic was scarily good.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 17:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Hi! I'm Dan in Santa Monica and I'm a Libra! I'm looking forward to seeing Blonde Redhead and The Boredoms at ATP in June or whenever! I hope that something good comes through town before then too!

don't mention black/orange orange/black

gygax!, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 20:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Definitely going Delgados and Black Box Recorder when they play Brum again. Hoping to possibly blag Flaming Lips, Low, maybe Teenage Fanclub. And apparently the Kills might also be playing here too... which makes me well excited.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 20:55 (twenty-three years ago)

only things going on in houston are brain killer and devandra banhart. which isn't so bad.

Mark F (mflaum), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 21:47 (twenty-three years ago)

I live in Bray, which is not far from Dublin, in Ireland. I'm going to Low, Teenage Fanclub (supported by Boa Morte) and Idlewild. 3 gigs in 4 days, at the same venue (Ambassador Theatre, Dublin). I'm excited, yes, particularly about Low. And Teenage Fanclub is a great double bill.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 21:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Hi, I'm Jeff and I live in the wonderful Detroit suburb of Ferndale. The only major show coming up is this party with just about every major Detroit DJ ever (even Jeff Mills!) spinning 'cause there's going to be an exhibit on Detroit techno at the Historical Museum. But I probably won't go to it.

You New Yorkers are spoiled. There's great shows there every week!

Jeff Sumner, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 22:47 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm spoiled for live music, but don't call me a New Yorker. I've been here all of 3 months as of today.

hstencil, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 22:50 (twenty-three years ago)

I live in Brighton, UK. Gigs coming up from the top of my head are Arthur Lee/Love (on a monday night and I work then so I'm going to have to miss), The Delgados (going to see), Electric 6 (not going to see), Low (would like to, but again, on a monday) and The Streets (definitely seeing).

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 22:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't live in a town.

mei (mei), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 23:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh wait a sec, just saw this:

my brother Danny and his band Bunny Brains are gonna play a fundraiser here and that is always fun.

Fuck yeah. Dan Bunny rulez!

hstencil, Tuesday, 7 January 2003 23:23 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm most excited about casiotone for the painfully alone, mon. jan. 20 @ plant bar in nyc

Hey, how unfair is it that he plays there and not here? Then again maybe he has.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 02:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I live in St Paul, and am going to see Interpol next week. Then in March it's Ladytron & Simian, followed by Röyksopp...not too shabby!

dek1, Wednesday, 8 January 2003 03:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, I'll be at that philly show. It's at the troc, right? Godspeed You Black Emperor also in march should be great. Not much else. That Chameleons show was great. My friend has a recording of it.

A Nairn (moretap), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 03:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Chams Chams Chams. Let me mention them again.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 January 2003 03:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Leicester: Of Montreal, Herman Dune and Marshmallow Coast. It's a Pickled Egg Records extravaganza thing above a dodgy Rock Bar!

-- flowersdie ([email protected]), January 7th, 2003.

Which one would that be then? Picked Egg made my first ever bootleg! Bless 'em. You don't write for Ripple do you by any stretch?
