Age of Chance for me with their goofy interpretation of the Minneapolis midgets tune. I assume AoC did it tongue in cheek, Tom was thinking of another season in Vegas.

You don't have to be Prince to know how to dance, you just have to get down with the AGE OF CHANCE!!!

seven months pass...
for the record. t'was not tongue in cheek. i can assure you. they were in total respect for the purple one - who gave the leeds cycle dudes a listen and approved of their take. no doubt the royalties helped put a smile on his face.
for the ultimate you need to hear the mashup version (Kisspower 12")that peelie played but was never released due to some rather obvious samples .. 1986 cut-n-paste classic. there are ways and means. look carefully and there may be a stream available.

five years pass...

despite having loved this track for years, i never heard the original peel session version properly.
well that is until now.

i think the peel session version is better than the released version.
the bass bigger, the drums more natural.
the quality on these recordings is amazing. all the more so given that it was all done and dusted in a few hours on afternoon.
the rest of the session, including unreleased track, how the west was won, is probably the best representation of the classic AOC sound prior to the introduction of samplers, after which things were never quite the same again.
