Bang On A Can Vs. Brian Eno

Having just recently bought Eno's Music For Airports, i see that a lot of reviews on the net say that the performance done by Bang On A Can is so much better. Is the difference that noticable that i should consider getting the BOAC one as well someday.

I just adore the Eno version, i find it hard to believe that they could even come close to how great the original version is?

(By the way, i have to say a huge THANK YOU to ILM. You've led me to so many different and wonderful things, like Eno, and Air, Abba, Os Mutantes, etc... Besides all the reccomendations, the best thing i've learned from here is how many deep seeded hostilities i've held on to from high school. Like anyone knew anything back then to begin with?!?)

If you like Eno's version, you should get the BOAC version for comparison's sake. I find BOAC to be a tad more "organic," whatever that means, which doesn't obviate my pleasure in the Eno version when I'm more in the mood for what he brings to the table. Both worth having.

hee hee. I hoped someone was arguing banging on a can was more fun than listening to Brian Eno.

They'd be wrong, but I'd get the sentiment.

eight years pass...

So hey the NYC BOAC marathon is Sunday at the WFC. Come enjoy 12 hours of ethereal sounds in the bizarre tropical greenhouse mall that is the WFC.

They are both cool records. It is one of the first instances I can take of a recording that was made from cutting up music that was then converted into something being played live by an ensemble or group.

Got to wonder for a badass funk group what would work someone going back and taking some classic drum and bass or hip hop tracks that were built up from samples might sound like in a live group. I'd wonder what a 4-5 piece band could do say doing "Endtroducing" as a live group would sound like.
