Archigram-Carnival
Bangalter and Falcon-Together
Space Cowboy-Just Put Your Hand In Mine
Phoenix-If I Ever Feel Better (Buffalo Bunch Remix)
Agent Sumo-24 Hours (urgent and key since it seems to fit your request perfectly)
Finally if you want to go very french and very discoey but also a bit tougher but still downright amazing then try Cassius-La Mouche (DJ Falcon remix). I had to include that cos it's my favourite song ever.

Best french/american house track: "Rockshock" by Roy Davis Junior and Thomas Bangalter. Basically, the entire Roulé Catalogue will satisfy your query, Nate. It's way better than the two Cassius lps. I hate to succumb to the "it was so much better before the albums" syndrom, but Cassius were really marvellous when they (I mean, mainly Zdar) remixed Norman Jean Bell or Daft Punk's Around the world, or sampled Prince. They had that dirty-but-clear sound and vicious beats, and everything that made them so great suddenly disappeared - or at least it got more soft and mainstream-radio-friendly, I mean "Feeling For You" was on NRJ and Fun Radio all the time in France - when they did "Cassius".
Btw, the Motorbass album, "Pansoul", is a masterpiece, one of the only true house albums, maybe because it's not plain house at all.

That TC 1992 "Funky Guitar" recommendation solves a big mystery for me, as my local college radio station had been using it for background music for an ad spot and I had no idea who it was. Excellent stuff.

My boyfriend's favourite of this sort of thing is I think Grant Nelson's "Step 2 Me (Disco Mix)", mainly for its "Step to the left! Step to the right! Mama's gonna bring you home tonight!" diva chorus.

Deeper disco house is still pretty much alive. Of course Moodymann has made a living off of Chic samples etc. and does warmly updated deeper funky disco house.
So do anyof his by now manyimitators.
