Describe bands when they were "best in bed"

To paraphrase what Tom E. had to say about Scritti Politti's career.. i.e. the sound of Green getting better in bed. Now, how would you apply this concept to some of ILX's faves and unfaves?

Which band? Which band's record? Why that record? What was the band "like"?

Oh, let's say... Killing Joke! "Night Time" would certainly be the quartet's most sultry moment ever. That front cover. The whole nocturnal theme. Their retainment of their sonic edge yet crafting and controlling it a little more than before. And dear god, those lyrics to "Tabazan"!

Now you go and shoot forth the new gold.

One could argue the entire sweep of the Raunchy Young Lepers' career was moving from 'atavistic urges unfulfilled given lack of practice' to 'about ready to maybe try something possibly perhaps.'

Also, keep in mind that "on the most drugs" often ---> worst in bed.

Fugazi's End Hits is probably when they started to get better in bed (see "Close Captioned"), but The Argument seals the deal...Guy even has Bridget Cross and Kathi Wilcox as his Fugazettes on some tracks now.

not to mention Bredan was now a daddy and Joe was on his way.

I'd say Pulp's album career plots Jarvis's fractured sexual experience pretty well - he's said before that he was a virgin when he wrote the lyrics for the It album, and it's hard to argue against, say,

It = innocence & curiosity
Freaks = early discovery, initial revulsion
Separations = working out own preferences
Intro/His'n'Hers = the endless appeal of voyeurism
Different Class = triumphant, vengeful conquering ubershag
This Is Hardcore = mid-30s uncertainty
We Love Life = this is my lot, and it's great

Or something. I can't think of any other lyricist who's documented his/her own sexual voyage of discovery so meticulously.

Sorry, thus, Pulp were technically best in bed round about His'n'Hers/DC.

If Beat Happening were ever good in bed, it was around Dreamy.
