Hello everybody. i have been lurking about for some time now; usually while at work, so its really hard to find the time and energy to sign and post as my boss is always surprising me with a pop in or 4 thru out the day. anyway, i really enjoy reading most of the threads here. you ladies and gentlemen make me laugh and think more than i had ever hoped. my writing skills lack however...so dont be put off if my syntax is fuct. i gotta admit its sorta intimidating to know theres so much i dont know a thing about. where i come from-ohio, if you enjoy/understand more than 3 or 4 genres of music...then you are usually more adventurous than 95% of the people around...its hard to find like minds here. will you all be my surrogate siblings?
i enjoy almost everything but youngcountry, kmfdm type stuff-industrial?, and whispy defrancoish snoozies. my most bestest records are a signed copy of the 2nd ?/the mysterions/action record by the man himself-rudy m, one of the coolest cats evvaah, and signed copy of funhouse...sentimental signposts in my life. other favorites are tome ze, robert quine, jody harris, james brown, wire, eno, willie, etc.., currently i am obsessed with the beegees writing skills. i hope to make some new friends here.

Welcome! Don't apologize for lack of writing skills -- just have a good brain and some opinions to go with. :-)

hey Alex, can you recommend a Killing Joke website with a lot of these pics. I'd kinda like to see 'em all in one place.

And hi, Thomas! Join in!

Sounds all reet to me. Been groovin' to a copy of Quine/Maher's "Basic" I found recently, cheap. Also, Brown's 1970 band's material: the un-fake-audience-dubbed long version of "Get Up I Feel Like Being a Sex Machine," etc.

THis is pretty amazing, isn't it? Jess made a great point somewhere about Brown basically inventing microhouse w/ this track. The clipped phrases and half-grunts that he and Byrd echo back and forth in the long middle portion of the track...

Oh, I forgot to say it but thanx Alex. The site is awesome!

But of course.

This is one of the great works of art in the century. Microhouse? Yeah, microhouse in Augusta (or Cincinnati). Bobby Byrd's call/reponse shit on this track is a high point for sure. This is what Miles Davis had in mind when he tried to do "music-as-process" in the '70s. Plus, I dig the travelogue.

Anthony is OTM. One of the best sites I've ever seen. Hi Thomas! Have you pre-ordered the new Wire album like all the other good little boys and girls?
