The New Music Theme

Anyone remeber old CITY/MM themes? The one from Rap City was hilarious but the one Im trying to recall is The New Music theme, did it use Pet Shop Boys "Always On My Mind" or not? Or am I horribly mixed up in my remeberance with the theme song that used Pig Bag?

I think the New Music used "Papa's Got a Brand New Pigbag."

I think your right, but I swear something from that time period on CITY used a few seconds of The Pet Shop Boys. Maybe it was FT, that would make sorta sense in a sick twisted way.

Didn't FT use "You're My Obsession" or "I'm Your Venus" or something like that?

I don't even know what I'm talking about anymore.

Fashion Television did indeed use Animotion's Obsession. Still use even, but I think that THEY THINK they've "updated" it somehow though. Sounds like poo.

Damm it, all who know will now think Im on crack, but I swear I've heard a short clip of Pet Shop Boys, maybe its one of CITYs closing credits.

You've been watching too much Marilyn Dennis again haven't you?

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 12 February 2003 02:49 (twenty-three years ago)

I remember that Citylimits used Wire's "Ahead". Mmmm.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 12 February 2003 02:53 (twenty-three years ago)

Aw shit, I MISS Citylimits.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 12 February 2003 02:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't think its CITYLine, its one of those great 80s/90s themes. What I would do for an MP3 of the old Rap City theme with all the Beastie Boy samples.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 12 February 2003 02:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I wasn't implying that it WAS Cityline. I'm just stating the obvious - that Marilyn Dennis drives people to new levels of insanity.

actually though... I know *something* used the into to Yaz's Don't Go. Might be what you're thinking of?

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 12 February 2003 02:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Its near the end of the song that Im thinking of, its just the flute/synth lead and the synthy horn blasts scream CITY.
May it be the ending credits to MediaTV? That might be my story till I can be proven wrong.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 12 February 2003 03:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Didn't Kurt Swinghammer do all the music to Media Television?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 12 February 2003 03:04 (twenty-three years ago)

What used "Don't Go"?! This is going to drive me nuts now...

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 12 February 2003 03:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Damm you Sean, you have debunked my story with what quite possibly is the truth.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 12 February 2003 03:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Think about that City stuff makes me all nostalgic because Musiqueplus is a really a different beast. Not that I get Musiqueplus or anything. But I'd be more likely to get it than any other City product if I did have cable.

CITY may have brought back the late night weekend softporn but it will never be the same.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 12 February 2003 03:14 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't even recognize the hosts on MuchMusic anymore. Ah, what will become of me.

slutsky (slutsky), Wednesday, 12 February 2003 03:33 (twenty-three years ago)

don't worry, Just close your eyes and imagine its Erica, Steve, Dan, Kim and Im trying to remeber who did Rap City, he was so serious all the time.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 12 February 2003 03:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually saw Erica Ehm recently on the Canadian Popstars. And I'll always have fond memories of that crazy Steve Anthony.
