Was den grossen Ring bewohnet,
Huldige der Sympathie!
Zu den Sternen leitet sie,
Wo der Unbekannte thronet.

"Flesh + Blood" is a lot better. Easily Roxy Music's most underrated album (and possibly their best)

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 7 March 2003 12:27 (twenty-three years ago)

hah! i don't think it was 'possibly their best', but i vote Roxy again cuz Bryan Ferry was too busy getting laid to cover 'Are You Experienced'

'do you mind if i leave the energy dome on'

Shout just might've been Devo's lowest-ever point, so I'll go with Messrs. Ferry, McKay etc. on this one.

I'm a big Devo fan, but I cannot stomach Shout. And Flesh + Blood is semi-underrated. Roxy Music never made a BAD album.

Roxy Music never made a BAD album.

Never a bad one, no, but their first five ones are all mildly overrated, while their last three are all underrated.

Haven't even heard "Flesh + Blood" but it wins by default cos "Shout" without a doubt is shockingly bad.

Flesh & Blood is the only Roxy Music album I don't own so I can't compare. Someone convince to go out and buy it tomorrow.

"while their last three are all underrated."

Don't people rate Avalon very highly?

A Nairn (moretap), Saturday, 8 March 2003 01:12 (twenty-three years ago)

"Avalon" is often rated highly, and that is deserved too. But a lot of people will claim that early Roxy Music was better, which is of course rubbish.

That cover of "Eight Miles High" though is pretty damn dire. Still, Roxy wins this easily.

Chris Barrus (xibalba), Saturday, 8 March 2003 10:16 (twenty-three years ago)

You're thinking of "Are You Experienced?", surely.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 8 March 2003 10:37 (twenty-three years ago)

No, the Roxy cover of "Eight Miles High". The Devo cover of "Are You Experienced?" is just goofy.

Oh whoops. My bad.
