introduction - i am roger adultery

A thousand pardons for dreadful etiquette, this is the first message board I've been interested in since the days of Skidz and I didn't realize it was customary to introduce oneself. I am Roger Adultery: I watch the Discovery channel all day, enjoy Blueberry muffins and Xanax, and barely exist in Staten Island, New York with Lady Jessica and the lingering memory of a cat. I write a weekly music column for a Michigan newspaper called Noise, and contribute regularly to Grooves, Your Flesh, Resonance and Skyscraper. I also play in a band called The Blood Group and run a noise label called Polyamory (www.geocities.com/berriesaswell). Nice to meet yall, officially.

Nice to meet ya Rog (kinda again)! Don't be put off by my love of Soul Coughing and the fact that people think I sound like Eminem, pretty please with a cherry on top.

Welcome to ILM, we love music here. :D

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 7 March 2003 20:05 (twenty-three years ago)

hello, and welcome. i'm a stranger here myself.

john fail (cenotaph), Friday, 7 March 2003 20:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Hello Roger....and John, for that matter....I'd normally never presume to speak for the entirety of ILM (as its ranks are swollen with pabulum-crazed cheese monkeys) but on its behalf, let me echo Nick's words of welcome. If you feel like being put off by my unswerving alleigance to all things Killing Joke, by all means do. I burst through the doors here some time ago when some whistlehead dared to dishonor the fire, and I've been stuck here ever since...........FOR THERE IS NO EXIT! IT'S JUST LIKE HOTEL CALIFORNIA, YOU CAN CHECK OUT BUT YOU CAN NEVER LEEAVVE!!!!! AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 7 March 2003 20:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Howdy. I love Volunteers.

christoff (christoff), Friday, 7 March 2003 20:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Thank you christoff! The new stuff is better...

Alex - no problems here with yr KJ fixation - I'm all for it.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Friday, 7 March 2003 20:18 (twenty-three years ago)

... i thought Volunteers was the new stuff.

christoff (christoff), Friday, 7 March 2003 20:25 (twenty-three years ago)

i've never listened to killing joke but i have their first album. i won't get to it for awhile though.

msp, Friday, 7 March 2003 22:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Welcome, indeed, to us.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 7 March 2003 23:11 (twenty-three years ago)

thanks all of you - I feel like Dorothy.

christoff - Volunteers is new to everyone outside of our band, yes, but ancient to us. We're pretty psyched about the new stuff, which we hope to have out before the end of time, but we haven't even gotten to record the whole thing yet. It does have a title though - Dead of Night. Will keep ya posted - thanks for the support!

and yes, we're on LGM.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Saturday, 8 March 2003 00:18 (twenty-three years ago)

M Matos (M Matos), Saturday, 8 March 2003 00:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Hello and welcome from another neophyte.

Davlo (Davlo), Saturday, 8 March 2003 00:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Neudonym says hi from Wisconsin. It's cold as Buddha's balls out here.

Neudonym, Saturday, 8 March 2003 04:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Welcome Roger!

What a, er, 'interesting' name you have there.

And "polyamory" is the singlemost coolest name I have ever heard for a record label.

10 times better than Matador.

Yeah, like when I hear the word "Matador" I really have visions of rock and roll...

Now, POLYAMORY...that's a little more up my alley.

Although you could change your logo to like a naked guy waving a red bedsheet at two naked women.

Oh, that IS your logo.

Sorry.

take seriously only in small doses

BurmaKitty (BurmaKitty), Saturday, 8 March 2003 04:40 (twenty-three years ago)

actually, that's a pretty good logo idea for a label who put out such classics as "Bolivian Marching Powder" and "Cunt Eats Cock" - will take it under advisement with Polyamory mogul Trouble T

but real smartasses never really have to proclaim themselves as such.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Saturday, 8 March 2003 04:44 (twenty-three years ago)

when you cause enough public embarrassment, humiliation, and lawsuits as I do, sometimes saying, 'geez, I'm only kidding' at the BEGINNING is a lot cheaper than a thousand gawddamn I'M SORRY's after the fact.

This is depressing because precious little has changed since those three years ago.

I still like the Dicovery channel, especially Monster Garage and American Chopper, though I no longer own a TV. I've given up blueberry in favor of cranberry, which is sorta the same maturation that brings one from Cocoa Puffs to Crispix. I still live with Lady Jessica and the Ghost of Gracie, but we now count Sadie Mae Glutz as a member of the family. She currently has her period.

I've moved from Staten Island to Knoxville, which is much nicer. I no longer write for Noise - actually, I no longer write for anyone, because i"ve decided that music journalism is the path to righteous crankiness (to say nothing of poverty).

The label is over and so is the band, but there is a new label and a new band. God help us.

ILX is still the only messageboard I check semi-regularly, though not as much as I used to. Nothin' personal - just busy.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 19 December 2005 22:59 (twenty years ago)

Ignore it, men! The ghosts of our fallen comrades are appearing only in our heads. March on! March on!

I made the same mistake the other day. rogermexico does yoga, which strikes me as most un-roger adulteryish.

Somebody should start a thread that definitively lists the ilx pantheon from demigod to lurker. A non-snark thread that could explain who all these fuckin' people are would be a boon, if an impossible one.
Meanwhile, I'll just imagine all of you as grinning Richard D. Jameses.

Also, why does the media put up with the same BS Jesse Jackson continues to spew? Because they don't want to be seen as actively marginalizing a black leader.
