Fischerspooner.

maria b (maria b), Friday, 7 March 2003 22:11 (twenty-three years ago)

I said this about Missy at some point and really stand by it.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 7 March 2003 22:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll second Nabisco.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 7 March 2003 22:24 (twenty-three years ago)

The Apples in Stereo

Not when I've seen them live. (And on the live front, I heard about a Missy show in London from my ex that apparently consisting of her doing little but introducing useless hangers on and never finishing songs -- she might have been having fun, but the audience wasn't!)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 7 March 2003 23:04 (twenty-three years ago)

From the photos, it looks like it would be really fun to be in the Polyphonic Spree. I've never seen them, though.

Arthur (Arthur), Friday, 7 March 2003 23:11 (twenty-three years ago)

AC/DC of course...

Siegbran (eofor), Friday, 7 March 2003 23:15 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll second Siegbran (and drop Missy - thunk!)! AC/DC's tribute to Bon Scott was definitely more uptempo than Missy's to her fallen friends.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 7 March 2003 23:18 (twenty-three years ago)

The GTOs and Poison.

And I'll second Maria... I've only seen Fischerspooner on TV but it was very camp and they looked like they were having a lot of fun. I wasn't expecting that from a group I've repeatedly heard described as pretentious.

B-52s, before Ricky died.

Arthur (Arthur), Friday, 7 March 2003 23:39 (twenty-three years ago)

There have been several acts in the Eurovision song contest throughout the years that have been obviously having fun on stage and not at all taking the competition seriously, seeming like they had a lot of fun.

One of them, Belgians Telex, even managed to come up with something as rare (in the case of ESC) as a good song, called "Eurovision" to complete the camp-feeling. :-)

inhuman, Saturday, 8 March 2003 05:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Good call Shaun - I saw ToD at 3 in the afternoon at a festival in Melbourne alongside a couple of hundred curious onlookers. Despite this, ToD played like madmen and had a great time on stage.

kookenhaken, Saturday, 8 March 2003 07:17 (twenty-three years ago)

JSBX

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Saturday, 8 March 2003 07:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Currently, Guided by Voices...the happiest-to-be-doing-what-they-were-doing show I ever saw was...Celebrity Skin.

Dr. Know of the Bad Brains...I remember seeing them on the tour for Quickness, and the man was obviously having the time of his life. He could simply not stop smiling and laughing.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 11 November 2005 02:34 (twenty years ago)

Although, in retrospect, one could probably assume that he was as high as a fuckin' kite at the time.

BROOOOOCE

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Friday, 11 November 2005 09:05 (twenty years ago)

the Pharcyde (Bizzare Ride only.) you can tell they were all best friends, sharing a house full of studio equipment, crackin jokes and having a blast. and it really comes through on the album.

one time gaffled 'em up (one time gaffled 'em up), Friday, 11 November 2005 09:25 (twenty years ago)

AC Newman. I'd say The New Pornographers, but Dan Bejar sulked around when I saw them, and Neko seemed to tire (understandably) of the nonstop cries of "Neko, I fuckin' love you!" by the middle of the set. But AC Newman and the drummer, bassist, and keyboard player seemed to be having a blast.
