hey yall - what does it mean when something comes up Remote: Banned?

roger adultery (roger adultery), Sunday, 9 March 2003 05:20 (twenty-three years ago)

it means someone banned you from downloading any more from them

likely either cause a) they're an ass b) you queued up way too much at once or c) they write for allmusic

or d) you're not sharing "enough" (some people ban if you're not sharing 10 full albums or more, some much more than that)

one year passes...
which cfg file do i wanna keep if i'm looking to preserve my userlist?

hotlist.cfg

usernotes.cfg stores any notes you've entered if you use that feature with the newer versions of soulseek. I back that up, too, because it preserves names and notes even after I've removed them from my list.

two years pass...

I've just started using Soulseek, and I wanted to know, how common is it that people mix up bands with the same name? Because I put up a relatively obscure drum'n'bass LP from 1997, and immediately everyone started downloading it from me. And I was like, what's up with this, until I learned that there's another drum'n'bass act with the same name. But the album I put up isn't even listed in any of the more famous band's discographies, and according to their bio they didn't even start recording until the early 00's. Should I add "THIS IS NOT THE MORE FAMOUS BAND OF THE SAME NAME, IDIOT!!!" on the end of the folder name or what?

If someone is kinda into a band (as in, they haven't memorized the band's discography) and downloads an album by a band of the same name, same genre of music, same general time period, I wouldn't rush to call them a moron.
