what are some bands/records/songs that you started out hating, then relistened to at some point and discovered that you actually liked them?

i've said some nasty things about New Order on ILM in the past. out of boredom, i downloaded substance this weekend, since out of fairness it's been a decade since i've heard it. and i discovered that i like New Order more than i thought i would -- still not as much as Joy Division, i don't think i'll ever sufficiently warm up to them, and they've still produced more toss than i would like. but overall i was wrong -- New Order was pretty good.

Joy Division hold a special place in the crypt of my heart (yow!), but a couple weeks ago, I was listening to a cassette I once made of New Order stuff (taken mostly from Movement, Low Life, Brotherhood, and Technique, and I was swept away, singing my larynx into submission and adding to existing knee damage by gyrating all over the living room. It was amazing how much I remembered, like it was pressed into my muscle memory or DNA or something. Stuff like "Truth", "Sunrise", "Sooner Than You Think", "As It Is And When It Was"... brilliant. I've still got Hook's basslines stuck in my head.

It was a nice surprise, as I hadn't thought of NO in quite a while.

I used to hate the foo fighters and I still do.

Wu-Tang Clan, though I mostly disliked them because of the hype and the amount of merchandise. Having said that, I still think "Enter the Wu-Tang" is the only GREAT record they have made.
