If you could only listen to one genre for the rest of your life, what would it be?

i mean jazz

brains (cerybut), Monday, 10 March 2003 05:49 (twenty-three years ago)

hmmm...if you asked me publicly, I'd say fucked-up gutter-jazz (Kaoru Abe, Arthur Doyle, Borbetomagus). If you asked me privately, probably 'ladies of vocal jazz' - you know, ella, billie, sarah vaughn, etc. But perish the thought. Any one style for too long would start me on basketball or something real quick.

Good question

Is "Top 40" a genre? :)

Tom (Groke), Monday, 10 March 2003 13:32 (twenty-three years ago)

"Punk" if I can use my own definition (which basically includes everything most people seem to call "New Wave" and "Post-Punk" and quite a bit of "Indie" as well as the mainstream "punk rock" stuff".

Failing that I'd be inclined to say "Post-Punk"; but then I'd have to berate myself for having dignified that misleading title by actually using it.

Oh and whatever Captain Beefheart is (so that's blues, avant-garde jazz, R&B, garage rock, psychedelia, prog., experimental, proto-punk, punk and post-punk).

Oh and and reggae too if that's OK?
