This is for all the money, kids. Who gets your vote? The wandering man or Mr. Homefront?

Lithium Lunchbox (Lithium Lunchbox), Monday, 10 March 2003 22:03 (twenty-three years ago)

tattooed no-talent loudmouth vs. nice guy who can't escape his past or parts of his boneheaded fans.

ian wins.

Bosse-De-Nage (Bosse-De-Nage), Monday, 10 March 2003 22:08 (twenty-three years ago)

plus he figured out how to play guitar.

hstencil, Monday, 10 March 2003 22:08 (twenty-three years ago)

will you please take those cotton balls out of your mouth?

thanks.

john fail (cenotaph), Monday, 10 March 2003 22:09 (twenty-three years ago)

dear henry:

what was that about your dad again?

love,
bosse-de-nage

ps have you been lifting weights?

Bosse-De-Nage (Bosse-De-Nage), Monday, 10 March 2003 22:15 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah... I like the fact that if you had a conversation with Ian at a show you wouldn't have to worry about him going off on some lengthy screed or threaten to beat somebody up, especially if ot were some authority figure like the off duty cops working the door for extra cash. The same cannot be said of Mr. Hank.

Lithium Lunchbox (Lithium Lunchbox), Monday, 10 March 2003 22:18 (twenty-three years ago)

IAN. IAN. IAN. IAN. IAN. IAN. IAN.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 10 March 2003 22:18 (twenty-three years ago)

ok not to get all in ya face but since when did we start judging our punk MUSIC idols on their skin decoration or ability to hold a conversation at a show. as far as the importance and influence of their music i would have to say rollins has the upper hand. even though alot of the great black flag music happened pre rollins he really made the band what they were in the long run. not to mention the man was a pretty important force in the popularization of "spoken word" in the early/mid 90s (regardless of whether you think this was a good thing or not).

has more lasting power and you can't discout the importance of dischord but i simply dont see him as essential as rollins. i mean c'mon lydia lunch sucked the guys(rollins) dick on film....can't beat that.

bryan kennedy (bryan kennedy), Monday, 10 March 2003 22:36 (twenty-three years ago)

i've seen girls at fugazi shows, so ian. i just can't imagine anyone but 14 year old boys at a rollins band show.

your null fame (yournullfame), Monday, 10 March 2003 22:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I distinctly remember Lydia getting a small firearm stuck up her ass by Marty Nations in one film but I don't ever remember her putting her mouth to good use.

Lithium Lunchbox (Lithium Lunchbox), Monday, 10 March 2003 22:41 (twenty-three years ago)

I still respect Henry (though it does get gradually more difficult with each passing year.....kinda like trying to still respect Kiss), but Ian just seems to be the clear winner here: a little more grounded (though a bit pious), a better musician (he can actually play a guitar and sing with some proficiency....a claim Henry can't make) a little more humble. Despite all earnest claims to the contrary, Henry is very much a rockstar and a "personality," while Ian could probably walk down the street with little or no fanfare.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 10 March 2003 23:43 (twenty-three years ago)

"pious" isnt really a tag ian deserves post minor threat. though ian mackaye has strong beliefs, he hasn't held the beliefs of others against them and is far less reactionary than rollins.

Bosse-De-Nage (Bosse-De-Nage), Monday, 10 March 2003 23:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Fair point, Bosse.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 00:32 (twenty-three years ago)

credibility award goes to ian, but he's too pompous to win outright. Rollins has much much better taste in music if you compare the stuff he publishes and releases with the crap Ian's been OKing for Dischord for the past twenty years. I'd rather hang out with Rollins.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 00:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Ian. Gimme a break. Rollins Band vs. The Argument? And though I have no idea what Rollins is releasing these days, I'd at least say that Dischord is documenting the DC scene for good or bad, which I view as a positive. Also, he's not a bad guy, if kinda small...

mookieproof (mookieproof), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 00:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Rollins has been in more motion pictures

Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 11 March 2003 01:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Lee Ving (Lord Custos Epsilon), Thursday, 13 March 2003 20:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Ooooh, Is it the "Kettle Korn"?

Jello Biafra (Lord Custos Epsilon), Thursday, 13 March 2003 20:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Lee Ving (Lord Custos Epsilon), Thursday, 13 March 2003 20:34 (twenty-three years ago)
