in 12th grade, my biology 2 teacher offered us 1 extra credit point for every song we could come up with that mentions water. i worked my ass off and brought in 283 songs, and got an A without having to do any work. i remember the mountain goats being responsible for a sizeable chunk of these songs.

Surprise no-one from Dunedin has posted yet; every band in Dunedin has a song called "Rain". The best ones are by Snapper, the Chills and Wreck Small Speakers on Expensive Stereos. I'm not going to post any of the lyrics though cause they're all of the mopey crappy-dunedin-weather-as-a-metaphor-for-how-i-feel-about-some-gurl type. And there were a few Christchurch bands that would sing about the rain all the time too but they suck.
