You are not cracked out. It definitely does.

Here is another one - sort of the Norwegian version of that cover:

There's a great British Punk compilaion that parodies the cover, tho' I can't think of its title at the mo'.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 14 March 2003 23:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, I was thinking of that one too, Alex. Just remembered the name: It's *Burning Ambitions: A History of Punk* (Cherry Red UK, 1981). And it's one of the most consistent punk compilations ever compiled.

I'd look for the photo and glue it in here, but I have no idea how.

seven months pass...
Big Daddy's album... Not only is the cover a cover of Sgt. Peppers, but the entire album is also a cover, track for track, of Sgt. Peppers, and, it's actually very clever music. http://www.bigdaddyfan.com/SgtPeppers.html

There is also the "Golden Throats" album http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0000032C1.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

eebee, Thursday, 6 November 2003 03:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that Golden Throats LP cover the one where the artist included Mark David Chapman (Lennon's killer) as one of the people in the crowd? This made Yoko so mad she sued Rhino or something.

The new DJ Rubbish/Barry's Bootlegs compilation does much the same thing, but there doesn't seem to be a picture of it anywhere. It's good though.

four years pass...

OK, so far I've got the following:

Forever Changes
Days of Future Passed
Their Satanic Majesties Request
Imperial Bedroom
3 Feet High and Rising
Electric Circus

Are there any other albums to have been either directly (or indirectly) influenced by (or said to have been "influenced" by/"Sound" like) Pepper?

Ioannis, Friday, 11 January 2008 16:27 (eighteen years ago)

Rhetorical question: Isn't this a thread about album COVERS?

Paul in Santa Cruz, Friday, 11 January 2008 17:22 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah - I didn't feel like starting a new thread just to ask that stupid question.

Ioannis, Friday, 11 January 2008 17:27 (eighteen years ago)

Oh yeah, `cos no one ever starts threads here based around stupid questions.

Alex in NYC, Friday, 11 January 2008 18:00 (eighteen years ago)

three years pass...

no idea where to put this:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/the-beatles/8867469/Beatles-sleeve-is-worlds-most-valuable-record-cover.html

A Beatles sleeve featuring the faces of music executives in place of the Fab Four has been declared the world's most valuable record cover.

The adapted artwork for their Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album is valued at around £70,000, according to a new study by Record Collector magazine.

It is one of five Beatles albums in the top 10 of releases which are prized primarily for the collectability of their sleeves...

I'll never forget that day years ago when I was at Goodwill going through records and watched some old collector guy was next to me rifling through Beatles stuff. He suddenly pulled out a Butcher cover and put it in his basket. That bastard knew what it was, and I was _this_ close to knocking him unconscious and taking it.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Saturday, 5 November 2011 04:30 (fourteen years ago)

I've excitingly found butcher covers only to quickly realize they were repro.s or bootlegs. The only authentic ones I've seen were at record shows at high asking prices.
