I ain't heard the album. We have it for to go in the uni paper music section this week, but no-one wants it.

It's Scandinavian Leather, that being the name... assuming you know anything about me, should I or shouldn't I go for it?

If song titles like "Midnight Nambla" and "Rendezvous with Anus" don't win you over, nothing will.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 15 March 2003 01:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah, rock it.

"Rock Against Ass." They're the best, man.

I've never heard turbonegro. Which song should I lidten to to get a taste ? (Havent got much time for these things as I'm one of only a handful of people who get to scan the skies for meteorites on a collision course with earth)

kevin brady (groeuvre), Saturday, 15 March 2003 09:34 (twenty-three years ago)

kevin, 'good head'. love turbonegro for rocking to fuck.

matthew james (matthew james), Saturday, 15 March 2003 18:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Shouldn't it be Scandinavian Denim? Ah well, fuck it.

Listen to "I got Erection" and "Prince of The Rodeo"

Really, they're sorta like the Ramones as far as you could listen to any of their songs to get a taste of what they do, none of their stuff is particularly harder or easier to listen to than anything else. All of their songs are in the same fast-tempo 3 to 4 chord anthemnic rock w/ blueish lead licks thown in here and there. All of their songs are pretty sing-alongable.

But they are the best fucking band on the planet.

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Saturday, 15 March 2003 19:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Prince of the Rodeo IS a good choice.

When does the new album come out?

Ally (mlescaut), Saturday, 15 March 2003 21:53 (twenty-three years ago)

It must be coming out soon; I found it on Soulseek. My favorite Turbonegro song is "Hobbit Motherfuckers", though it's not exactly characteristic of what they're doing now, which is pretty Stooges/Alice Cooper-ish. The new album is totally fabulous, "Remain Untamed" is the jam!

Kris (aqueduct), Saturday, 15 March 2003 23:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, all I gotta say is that the first song alone on the new Turbonegro is brilliant. Two minutes of some sort of meta-80s-AOR-metal thing, beautiful. Then you get the ROCK.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 16 March 2003 06:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Seems like a fair amount of Def Leppard on this album, I think -- not just in the vocals but in the guitars. Nothing wrong with that...

um...they kick NitroHonkey's ass?

Just dl'ed it and Ned is otm. Wasn't expecting them to go in this direction, but they didn't miss a step.

OH, my God. "Nitrohonky". We've been struggling with a name for weeks, let me run this up the pizzlemast and see what they say!

matt riedl (veal), Sunday, 16 March 2003 17:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Also, the use of strings and a flute on the new one are spot-on GREAT without ANY wimpiness, and "Drenched in Blood" has it in it to be an actual hit, of sorts. Reminds me of 45 Grave. All the new songs seem great. I think it comes out early April and I'm buying it, despite the fact that I've already d/l'd it.

matt riedl (veal), Sunday, 16 March 2003 17:14 (twenty-three years ago)

"Drenched in Blood" sounds like Blink 182!

Kris (aqueduct), Sunday, 16 March 2003 23:44 (twenty-three years ago)

OK I just searched for this online and cannot find it - what the hell? I am hated by search engines :(

Ally (mlescaut), Sunday, 16 March 2003 23:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Ally -- drop me a line.

"Drenched in Blood" sounds like Blink 182!

Mm, no. It's actually good.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 16 March 2003 23:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually, I was just able to download Drenched in Blood - and I can see what he means. The chorus has that Blink 182 trying to be funny-epic feel. It doesn't help that one of the guys in Turbonegro actually kind of sings like the singer in Blink 182.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 17 March 2003 02:32 (twenty-three years ago)

The only instance in which Turbonegro and Blink 182 should appear in the same sentence if if they are seperated by "shit the fuck over". Yes, I do have the new album.

It's almost unendingly great, regardless of the fact it sounds like Alice Cooper *points up, nods* or ampthitheatre rock cheesemongers of old. Take the record and tell the students to listen to this instead of the shit they like now.

If Nitrohonkey doesn't work here's some other suggestions courtesy of Jello Biafra:

Lost Orgasm
Janitors of Anarchy
Fun with Treason
Magnum Jihad
Peppermint Leprosy

and here's another from me...

The Vienna Boys Sausage

two years pass...
They'd definitely appeal to Blink 182 fans! At my retail job one X-mas season I put together a recommendation sheet for the staff called "The Bubblegum Basics" and helpfully included Turbonegro, along with stuff like Radio Disney comps, Fannypack, and "Totally Country." They'd be good for alternateens whose parents let them listen to profanity. And who are into pizza and anal sex.

that song about "new wave hooker girls"
