Is there really a difference?

yes. roadrunner never released anything as good as the halo of flies. especially _headburn_, though i think the original EP came out on twin/tone.

Amrep= Ironic Slayer T-shirt
Roadrunner= Unironic Slayer T-shirt

In other words, Roadrunner fans were the ones booing Unsane when they opened for Entombed for not being hard enough.

Scott... that's pretty funny. Is it true?

Citizen Fred (Citizen Fred), Monday, 17 March 2003 05:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Hell yeah. Metal warriors ain't got no time for that indie shit.

Scott Seward, Monday, 17 March 2003 05:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah.. but for an "indie" band, Unsane is pretty damn heavy.

Citizen Fred (Citizen Fred), Monday, 17 March 2003 05:32 (twenty-three years ago)

I agree, sir. Speaking as someone who has been way too close to their speakers in small smokey clubs.But from the point of view of a hardened grizzled Swedish death metal fanatic who has about 4% of their hearing left, Unsane are but a gnat or fly buzzing around them harmlessly. They probably thought they were Helmet or something. This was years ago, you see.

I am certain I have permanent hearing loss from seeing Unsanse @ CBGB. It was a good show though.

Did Roadrunner ever release any comedy videos?

EC, Monday, 17 March 2003 05:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Amphetamine Reptile keeps trying to catch the Roadrunner but all the gadgets he buys from ACME Megalocorp always malfunction.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Monday, 17 March 2003 14:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Those Am Rep/ Rich Kronfeld videos were often quite funny, in a dorky, sweaty, low budget kind of way, but I would guess that they'd fail to get a chuckle out of most Swedish death metal veterans.

EC, Monday, 17 March 2003 15:15 (twenty-three years ago)

The Roadrunner comedy video should feature the Muppets' Sweedish Chef, who will prepare various humorous dishes as he introduces the metal bands. If the death metal diehards don't find the Chef funny, they can at least wallow in the sick, creepy vibe given off by the combination of naked human hands and a foam rubber head.

There was an awesome AmRep package tour that came to Europe in 1991: Halo Of Flies, Tar, God Bullies, Helmet and Surgery iirc. Not all their records were that great but wow, these were all amazing live bands. The entire Halo Of Flies discography completely rules though.
