Someone recommended Magnetic Fields 'Holiday', Yo La Tengo 'Heart (etc) and Duke Ellington 'Such Sweet Thunder' to me. Love 'em both. Can you recommend something else along those lines to me? Or an album which is representative of all three of these albums.

i'm not so crazy about the magnetic fields, however i really like the first album from the 6ths, which is a side project of magnetic field-er, stephin merrit.

Well, it was actually a friend who turned me into Blur around "The Great Escape". I guess that is the best example I can think of.
