Genya Ravan vs Pat Benetar

They look somewhat alike but Genya is so under appreciated that she deserves some credit. I like her more than JanisJoplin but I always thought Janis was ripping off Roky in some way so I have an IRRATIONAL bias toward her.

Genya is the one for me. I wrote a review in case you don't know she's got a CD to offer now:

genya ravan for fans only

Her early work is genuinely worthy of re-release on CD.

I think this is a great record, especially if you have a tender spot for Genya, definitely worth sending away for. My hubby heard it, commandeered it for awhile, then sent away for another for some friends ... They weren't familiar with her, but quite stoked by her singing.

I wouldn't mind getting her earlier work on CD either, but I think that's a way down the road. She's got an autobiography in process, which should curl your hair (or straighten it right out if yours is of the other variety).

electrifying, that Genya.

May I ask how you each found out about Genya and about when? I ask because her first records fell from print so very long ago ... abd of course I am curious.

I was at a flea market and asked if anyone had had any records because I didn't see any. Old women comes back with 2 Ten Wheel Drives and a solo (also Bloodrock 3!) they looked interesting and were new to me so I snatched em up for a dollar each. had to look them up on amg because I never had heard of either. Well I knew Bloodrock anyway but that wasnt quite as much of a treasure
