hey all - trying to compile a tape for a friend of good reggae heavily inspired by gospel / lots of vocals - similar to Yabby You's "Carnal Mind," The Man Who Does the Work," etc - this all began with a search for the Rightful Brothers 45 (see want list thread) but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. The more religious, deep, the better. No need to post obvious ones. Thanks yall

Prince Far I isn't really gospel-y but he's sure got the fire and brimstone thing working for him. _Under Heavy Manners_ is ridiculously good. Don't know if this helps.

If you want to go earlier than YY, search the Clarendonians: "Rules of Life" and so on. I think they started as a gospel group in fact.

Under Heavy Manners is the name of the album. The song "Heavy Manners" is about, well, how the kids have no manners. But the one to download off that record would be "Big Fight" in which Natty Dread gets into a boxing match with Babylon, all the while riding his bicycle and dodging Babylon around the ring. Then there's "Deck of Cards" in which Far I goes through the deck and relates each card in some way to biblical verse. It's really one of my favorite albums straight thru, one that I never get tired of.

Almost forgot - the all-Psalms record _Psalms for I_ (which I've only heard once or twice) but I think it was reissued very recently(!). Everything he's done is freaking magical.
