Song that make you laugh

Doesn't have to be the artist's original intention.

"The Gift" by Velvet Underground has me in fits every time, but then I can be a sick bastard.

It's the delivery rather than the content, I should add. Unintentional mutilation of your former lover is just not cool.

The entirety of Pure Guava by Ween.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 18:46 (twenty-three years ago)

...and "Fast as A Shark" by Accept

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 18:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I've listened to Pure Guava thousands of times now, and I still get hysterical over "Pumpin 4 the Man" and "The Stallion" and "Big Jilm". Doot doo doo doot!

On the other side of the coin, I haven't been able to not laugh at Papa Roach ever since seeing them perform on TV and watching their vocalist...

A) run out of breath and not be able to finish the majority of his lines

B) fall OFF the stage and try to cover it up, as though he did it on purpose

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 19:25 (twenty-three years ago)

The Beach Boys' "I'd Love Just Once To See You." One of the best punch-lines ever.

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 23:20 (twenty-three years ago)

"Yes Sir I Can Boogie" by Baccara is still one of the funniest records ever made. I doubt it was on purpose. :-)

"roadkill" by ashtray boy

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 23:36 (twenty-three years ago)

THere's some traditional Black Metal song by a band who I probably couldn't try and pronounce let alone spell with a jew's harp on it that sounds every 4 bars. Completely ridiculous but great at the same time.

dog latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 23:39 (twenty-three years ago)

'Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols' - especcially the first couple of songs
no, seriously. i recall at least two occasions when i've heard it again after many a year and my friends've been kinda baffled by my behaviour...

that bit in 'Where Do You Go To My Lovely? where he goes 'and you laugh, yes you do, ha ha'

Liam Lynch's 'United States Of Whatever' and 'Happy Song' made me laugh, only the first time i guess

The Streets 'Give Me My Lighter Back' and 'Don't Mug Yourself' for the usual geezerisms

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 23:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Who does that song that goes "I can tell you're lying/Cause when you're replying [denying?]/you st-st-stutter, stutter..."? That's always good for a laugh.

Also "I've Had the Time of My Life".

There's a song called "Sequences N20" by Video-Aventures on an old cassette compilation I have that always makes me laugh. I think it might be Jac Berrocal who is reciting on it, but I really don't know. He starts cracking up in the middle of the take, but manages to get it together again and continue towards the end. I can't help laughing when I hear it. Part of why I like it so much is because it's always about the possibility of laughing. His composure, once he regains it, is hilariously fragile. Every time I hear it, it seems like it could turn out differently, and I guess it reminds me about how other things could turn out differently, also, and how it's turning me out differently. It helps that he has a beautiful speaking voice. There's an old Anthony Moore piece that's like this, as well, but it's with a group of people chanting syllables in kind of a cloud-like harmony; it's one of my favourite "minimal"-type things.

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 20 March 2003 01:26 (twenty-three years ago)

I just listened to that Disturbed song with the "ooh ooh aah aah" bit at the beginning, and GEEZUS DO THEY KNOW HOW FUNNY THAT IS!?!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 20 March 2003 06:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Steve Perry makes me laugh.

Also, whenever they get to that part in "Pinball Wizard" that goes "such a supple wri-i-ist!" I giggle like an idiot.

My name is Kenny (My name is Kenny), Thursday, 20 March 2003 06:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Disturbed? Is that the band who does that "ooh ah ahah" song? I asked on that nu-metal thread and don't think anybody got it. Man, I really hate that song.

Anyway, I heard the Frogs "I've Got Drugs" on a college radio show the other day and it totally cracked me up.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Thursday, 20 March 2003 07:23 (twenty-three years ago)

nick.K (nick.K), Thursday, 20 March 2003 12:10 (twenty-three years ago)

'Sussudio' - ODB's cover. Laugh or cry, what's the difference.

nick.K (nick.K), Thursday, 20 March 2003 12:20 (twenty-three years ago)

too many to list - a lot for the wrong reasons... but on a recent note, I can't help laughing or at least raising a smile when I hear the elephant noise in Missy Elliott's Work it... "If you got a big [elephant], let me search ya/To find out how hard I gotta work ya..." just funny and i like elephants.... more of them needed in pop music, i think

Dave Stelfox, Thursday, 20 March 2003 12:36 (twenty-three years ago)

..anything by Oasis usually has me in fits of laughter.

Leonard Cohen, too, tends to jolly me up for the day.....

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Thursday, 20 March 2003 12:39 (twenty-three years ago)

That R.Kelly single Feelin' on yo' Booty at the end where he's crooning "boooo-teeee, boooo-teeee, boo-oo-oo-oo-tee, boo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-tee"

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 20 March 2003 12:45 (twenty-three years ago)

"Nelly, I looooooove you, Nelly I neeeeeeed you"

The thought of Nelly writing that for Kelly to sing makes me chuckle too.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Thursday, 20 March 2003 12:47 (twenty-three years ago)

...I think Kelly slapped him one for that - check the inexplicable plaster on his face (I know it's a homie fashion statement - but....please. Plasters ARE NOT COOL. Especially when worn with yellow baggy shellsuits).
