i was just ok about his stuff with Couch and Lake of Dracula, but I loved his track on the Ersatz comp and loved the 12" even more. Anyone heard Friends Forever? Worth picking up? What do yall think of Mr Marlon Magas?

Friends Forever is a really pleasant surprise -- he's done some great stuff with it, and it holds up for me a lot better than I'd have expected from the mostly-just-okay EP. I'd never have imagined a single album would make me think of both rockabilly and electro, but there you have it.

b-b-but i know you've heard suicide

re: Friends Forever, that movie was pretty funny. i like the idea of joining the vans and making a van-plane

i really have nothing useful or pertinent to add to this thread, i'll see myself to the door, thanks

Oh yeah, I guess Suicide. Though they seemed rockabilly in this grimy sense whereas the Magas reminds me more of some odd slicked-up stagy rockabilly. (I have no idea what I mean here but I'm trying to work it out.)

oh i've never heard of Magas. they could sound like anything and i'd believe you. well actually i'd guess it'd be techno from the label, but beyond that, you could tell me it sounded like elephant turds and i'd have to say ok.

the album and 12" are both great. reminds me of someone who drunk too much coffee and tried to make his laptop sound like the cramps.

Oh no! I have been saying "rockabilly" when I meant "the Cramps" because I thought the Cramps ref was spot-on and I wanted to save it for a review of this. Simon, if you ever come across a review making that reference, I didn't steal it from you, honest.
