Les Savy Fav / S Process / Pleasurehorse (Les Savy Fav is playing with the Apes
the next night too)

Chainsaws and Children, The Baylies Band, Temple of Bon Matin, Modern Day Urban
Barbarians and Irene Moon
Chainsaws and Children are another band that take traditional metal and throw it through a super-computer, ending up with a whirlwind of triggered beats and manic slayer-esque guitar chunk that could level New York City. Noise, hardcore.

Sage Francis / Gruvis Malt (hahaha)

Leaning towards Chainsaws and Children.... most of my friends will be at Sage Francis I think.

pleasurehorse rocks live. saw him play w/ some forcefield videos a while back. savy fav, i've seen once and they seem like the kind of band that you can see once and "get it."

temple of bon matin sound pretty awesome. heard good things.

skip sage francis...

marcg (marcg), Friday, 21 March 2003 15:47 (twenty-three years ago)

a week from Sunday

Har Mar Superstar / Sole / Grand Buffet

vs.

a friend's band, The Narrative Life, opening for Q And Not U

i [heart] Grand Buffet, and they are always fantastic live, but I have no interest in Har Mar or Anticon anything. not really a fan of Q, but I wouldn't mind seeing them, and i do want to check out my friend's band, as well as the venue, so that probably wins. hopefully I can catch GB on a better bill soon.

Al (sitcom), Friday, 21 March 2003 15:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Go see Temple of Bon Matin. Les Savvy Fav - ugh.

hstencil, Friday, 21 March 2003 15:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Yea, I think I wanna see The Apes tomorrow. They're fucking great. I saw them with Liars twice.... great shows.

Jon Williams (ex machina), Friday, 21 March 2003 16:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Should I go see Mummenschanz or not?

Fivvy (Fivvy), Friday, 21 March 2003 16:03 (twenty-three years ago)

I would have to drive 450 miles to do so, is it worth it?

Fivvy (Fivvy), Friday, 21 March 2003 16:04 (twenty-three years ago)

where is the bon matin show?

marcg (marcg), Friday, 21 March 2003 16:05 (twenty-three years ago)

margc: AS220, Providence, RI

Jon Williams (ex machina), Friday, 21 March 2003 16:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Go see Sage Francis.

Jeff-PTTL (Jeff), Friday, 21 March 2003 16:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm considering The Bellrays on Saturday (if its not sold out or Im not busy) or The Warlocks on Wednesday.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 21 March 2003 16:54 (twenty-three years ago)

what about Wesly Willis on April Fools Day, should I got to that show?

A Nairn (moretap), Friday, 21 March 2003 16:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Should I go "see" my own band, or cancel it and see Bonnie Billy playing that same night?

Famous Athlete, Friday, 21 March 2003 17:15 (twenty-three years ago)

You should go see Wesley Willis, no matter what day it is.

Alan Conceicao, Friday, 21 March 2003 17:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Go see Har Mar! He does his gigs in just his tighty-whities.

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 21 March 2003 17:43 (twenty-three years ago)

all the more reason to skip it.

hstencil, Friday, 21 March 2003 17:45 (twenty-three years ago)

I have a ticket for Les Savvy Fav - it's on a Monday night... Two warm-ups .. the band won't start until like midnight ... Do I really want to see them that badly? i.e justify Les Savvy Fav over a good night's sleep.

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 21 March 2003 17:45 (twenty-three years ago)

When will you get back from said show? When do you have to wakeup? What for?

Jon Williams (ex machina), Friday, 21 March 2003 17:47 (twenty-three years ago)

justify Les Savvy Fav over a good night's sleep.

Sorry, I couldn't even justify Les Savvy Fav if they were playing for free at 10 AM in my living room.

hstencil, Friday, 21 March 2003 17:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Les Savy Fav are pretty fun live though.

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 21 March 2003 17:52 (twenty-three years ago)

going to the show gives me about 4 hours of ear-ringing/sleep before I have to go to work for 9 hours... I do it occasionally - but it's gotta be worth it...

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 21 March 2003 17:56 (twenty-three years ago)

uh, no.

hstencil, Friday, 21 March 2003 17:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, Les Savy Fav are fun live. But when I saw them, they were opening for The Ex who completely and utterly blew them off the stage.

original bgm, Friday, 21 March 2003 19:05 (twenty-three years ago)

in my one experience with l.s.f., !!! opened and mopped the proverbial floor.

lsf may be the original contemporary risd art rockers (ie. post-talking heads)

marcg (marcg), Friday, 21 March 2003 19:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Jon, I think I'm going to see Bon Matin; they rule. There's no reason to see LSF now when you can see them tomorrow and not miss anything else, esp. when you've already seen Pleasurehorse (which I think you have, right?)

Ian Johnson (orion), Friday, 21 March 2003 19:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Six Finger Satellite?

hstencil, Friday, 21 March 2003 19:48 (twenty-three years ago)

hstencil--good point. i guess they may have pre-dated lsf, not sure about exact dates...

marcg (marcg), Friday, 21 March 2003 19:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Ian, I'm going.

Jon Williams (ex machina), Friday, 21 March 2003 19:57 (twenty-three years ago)

6FS way predated LSF!

temple of bon matin... any reports on the lineup? imho, the more the merrier.

grand buffet = chalk me up on the vote against these guys. no thanks.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 21 March 2003 19:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Damm, now I have a desicion even if I do go out tomorrow. The Bellrays vs Kodo Drummers (FITE!).

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 21 March 2003 20:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Six Finger Satellite?

hahahaha!!

geeta (geeta), Friday, 21 March 2003 20:06 (twenty-three years ago)

I have a wesley willis dilema on April 6th:

-Wesley Willis 9pm
-The Mountain Goats 9pm
-The Mountain Goats 4pm
-Cat Power 9pm

Certainly I'll see the afternoon MG show, but the question is should I see Cat Power perform badly, Wesley Willis headbutt people, or another MG set in the evening.

Jeff-PTTL (Jeff), Friday, 21 March 2003 20:11 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm trying to decide between that Void show and that Thirteenth Floor Elevators show.

die9o (dhadis), Friday, 21 March 2003 21:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Is it worth a three hour drive to Chicago to see Xiu Xiu? (Mind, I don't have anything else to do over spring break) And will there be any ILMers there?
