Drowning Pool - C or D

Not the tedious nu-metalists with the untimely deceased singer, but the '80 atmospheric college-goths with pop sensibilities. I'm currently listening to Satori, a double-album I picked up at a college radio station sale for $0.25, and it's GREBT.

Has ANYBODY heard these guys? Second album was called Aphonia and was released on Fundamental.

Their singer's dead.

NO, NOT THAT DROWNING POOL, THE OTHER ONE!

Drowning Pool became Mumbles, who were musically great but had a truly lousy (M) vocalist. may still be kicking around in some form.

I am playing one hell of an ancient brilliant gem right now: Drowning Pool's "Aphonia", 1988. Does anyone remember this one? I can't remember the last time I heard it but much of it still packs quite a punch and it's one of those CD's that I will never get rid of. They certainly had perfect production values. It rather does make me regret the fact that I had not yet gotten into folky Led Zeppelin when I heard it, though.

Also, Summer's Last Sound was correct about the Mumbles. Drowning Pool went from one crap singer to being an incredible instrumental band to...yet another crap singer with the Mumbles. Who were indeed musically great, without the singer.

I wore out my cassette copy of Aphonia. Brilliant stuff. I always associate them with Savage Republic and 17 Pygmies for some reason.

Yeah, that's not too far off to associate those. I think the same folks were behind their label(s). Please don't ask me how I know this. Thanks.

Let the bodies hit the floor, Let the bodies hit the floor, Let the bodies hit the floor.

Now that was an awesome song.

(I know. You're talking about the *other* Drowning Pool. Even though I've never heard them, based on the strength of the nu-metal Drowning Pool, I'm giving them a C.)

Don't mess with me, else I'll call you a random googler. And we wouldn't want that.
