"I Don't Blame You" has that great chord change ("you were swinging your guitar around.."), but I think CP's best songs are the ones with more abstruse lyrics. A hazier lyrical context seems to allow Chan's voice suggest the most depth. (well, i'm not making a blanket argument for abstract over concrete, but Chan writes good opaque lyrics, and that voice...)

hmm Cat Power brought the house down* in her network TV debut with the "we can all be free..." song. She made it all the way through with only some minor piano fumbles, and then applauded herself.
