"Metal Heart" from Moon Pix

David A. (Davant), Sunday, 23 March 2003 03:21 (twenty-three years ago)

the three seconds' silence between any given pair of songs

M Matos (M Matos), Sunday, 23 March 2003 05:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Nude as the News. First Cat Power song I heard, last one I loved.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Sunday, 23 March 2003 05:10 (twenty-three years ago)

let's hear some criticism then. nah, nevermind... preserve the POO integrity. Actually "Metal Heart" is my fave, too, but I figured that'd be the most popular pick.

"I Don't Blame You"

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 23 March 2003 05:39 (twenty-three years ago)

"i found a reason"

i've been so obsessed with her cover of this tune for the past week.

also, i second "don't blame you"

drystereo (drystereo), Sunday, 23 March 2003 05:44 (twenty-three years ago)

"I Don't Blame You" has that great chord change ("you were swinging your guitar around.."), but I think CP's best songs are the ones with more abstruse lyrics. A hazier lyrical context seems to allow Chan's voice suggest the most depth. (well, i'm not making a blanket argument for abstract over concrete, but Chan writes good opaque lyrics, and that voice...)

Aaron A., Sunday, 23 March 2003 06:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Many are good, but there is only one "Nude As the News."

paul cox (paul cox), Sunday, 23 March 2003 06:17 (twenty-three years ago)

'sea of love'

minna (minna), Sunday, 23 March 2003 06:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Her cover of "Satisfaction." When just tone can change the whole meaning of a song, that's a good cover.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Sunday, 23 March 2003 07:45 (twenty-three years ago)

the one on moonpix with thunder sounds at the start.. "Say"?

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Sunday, 23 March 2003 09:49 (twenty-three years ago)

colors and the kids

ron (ron), Sunday, 23 March 2003 10:05 (twenty-three years ago)

'american flag'. new album doesn't lag like moon pix. pity.

matthew james (matthew james), Sunday, 23 March 2003 11:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Matos is OTM

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Sunday, 23 March 2003 13:12 (twenty-three years ago)

"Keep On Runnin'."

Marcello Carlin, Sunday, 23 March 2003 13:29 (twenty-three years ago)

when she plays "keep on runnin" live its almost a different song...it is a combo of keep on runnin and the unreleased "indirect sun"

kephm, Sunday, 23 March 2003 16:08 (twenty-three years ago)

colors and the kids

Sean@tangmonkey (Sean M), Sunday, 23 March 2003 16:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Aaron A., Sunday, 23 March 2003 20:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Bathysphere cover.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Sunday, 23 March 2003 23:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Cross Bones Style! you can rap during the instrumental parts and go "uh huh yeah" P. Diddy style when she sings.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 23 March 2003 23:42 (twenty-three years ago)

cover of pavements 'we dance', in fact.

matthew james (matthew james), Sunday, 23 March 2003 23:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Probably any given song off of the new one. Evolution.

S Samson, Monday, 24 March 2003 00:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Taking People

Al (sitcom), Monday, 24 March 2003 06:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Still In Love - Hank Williams Covers RUL.

You Are Free most over rated album on AMG?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 24 March 2003 07:25 (twenty-three years ago)

The usual disclaimers apply, but: "Darling Said Sir."

Douglas (Douglas), Monday, 24 March 2003 11:11 (twenty-three years ago)

I haven't listened to You Are Free in its entirety since I first got hold of a copy a few months ago. I'd been going back to individual tracks. But the whole thing falls together beautifully.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 24 March 2003 23:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Cross Bones Style.

Oh-ho come... chi-hiild... come, and rescue me...

Some bastard nicked all my Cat Power albums, though. And my Monica Queen one. They must be dead chipper.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 24 March 2003 23:50 (twenty-three years ago)

hmm Cat Power brought the house down* in her network TV debut with the "we can all be free..." song. She made it all the way through with only some minor piano fumbles, and then applauded herself.

*slight exaggration maybe
