Songs That Sound Like They Were Made For 80's Films

What qualities are it that make a song sound like it was in an 80's film? Like when you hear it you know it was in one. For example, the greatest song ever "St Elmo's Fire" by John Parr.

Stretching it, Scorpions' "Wind of Change". Do you just have to come from the 80's? No that's not it, because lot's of other songs from 80's don't have 'the feel'.

(Heart - "Alone"). I'm probably just remembering them from 80's films. But they all have a unifying sound.

OMG, skimming my gf's flatmates playlist and I have found the J!O!Y that is R, E, O Speedwagon! Add them straight to the list. These guys are a!m!a!z!i!n!g - "Keep on Loving You" - he's running across the city's square and awakes a herd of pidgeons, skims past a suicide of goths on the corner of the street, past the bastard of nings who stare him down... Fade... and he's at her bedside, *squall guitar*, he's leaning over and he's cusped her behind the neck and thinking about kissing her *cloudburst chorus*: the kiss!

Can you believe they're ending this film on the beach to "Can't Fight This Feeling", pirouetting in the sand, as a man passes by with his dog, cocks them a snook and proceeds on his way as the happy couple enthralled in each other's eyes? I can, it's the 80's!

Psychedelic Furs' "Pretty In Pink" and "If You Leave" by OMD. Oh and "Good Enough" by Cyndi Lauper. (It's all about The Goonies, folks.)

Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now = ownz this thread. All songs that sound like they were recorded for '80's films are good songs. I will deny the existence of exceptions to this rule, so don't even go there.

this is a total long-shot, but andrew dick (not the howard stern fellow), who used to be in a philly band called ralphus, made the most amazing songs on a sequencer; they sounded exactly like incidental music from sixteen candles.
