the pinefox, Monday, 24 March 2003 14:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Best of the Shirelles / Best of the Shangri-Las / Best of the Ronnettes / Best of.... etc.
Recently I bought - 'An Affectionate Punch - The Associates' on vinyl for 50p. Yes, I know.
You can still find the odd Kevin Saunderson 12"s hidden away in car boot sales

Most of the records I buy are under 2 quid, which might explain why I have such a huge collection of 70-80 tat. Also my gf has a very irritating habit of peeling off the price stickers.

nick.K (nick.K), Monday, 24 March 2003 14:17 (twenty-three years ago)

...but Nick K, you CAN'T leave price stickers onyour albums/CDs...!
That's just sacrilege?!
As soon as I get home, I'm busy carefully peeling the heinous things off - they look so tacky left on!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 24 March 2003 15:21 (twenty-three years ago)

A scuffed-looking but nice-sounding LP copy of the Superfly soundtrack: 50 cents at Landfill Records on University Ave. in St. Paul.

the Loose Fur album for A$3. a couple of Let's Active LPs for A$1 each. A bundle of Sarah 7"s for A$1 each (this was 7 or 8 years ago though). Literally hundreds of CDs for A$5 (which is still less than 2 pounds I think), including Nirvana's In Utero and the Andrew WK album.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 25 March 2003 00:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Nuggets is having a moving sale, 75% off. Saturday I got Eurythmics "Be Yourself Tonight" and "1984", as well as Genesis "A Trick of the Tail", and Frank Sinatra "That Old Feeling". Less than US$5 all told.

Oh, wait, you said cool purchases. Hmm...I think Frank qualifies anyway.

Lukas (lukas), Tuesday, 25 March 2003 03:56 (twenty-three years ago)

My best purchase on the price/quality scale would have to be Slaughter Joe and the Modern Folk Quintet LP All Around My Hobby Horse's Head for 37 cents US. Rhino of Claremont, back when vinyl dominated. I think I've only been back once, to see the Spinanes at an in-store performance, because it's about a 30 minute drive, and because I'm afraid I'll be disappointed.
