That fave 100 singles list made me remember that one of my fave singles is "Grasshopper Meets The Master" by Superstar A-Mar. I have a test pressing made by Zakia records not an actual single. Zakia, you may remember was the cool-ass Harlem label that originally put out "Eric B Is President" amongst others. In fact, I just bought the most excellent single by Dr.Freshh, "Roxanne's Doctor-The Real Man" on Ebay for 5 bucks! What a steal. The Japanese economy must be worse than I thought. The same guy actually has a copy of Roxanne's Parents!! for sale by some duo I've never heard of too.But I think I'll stop before Roxanne's extended family and friends put me in the poorhouse. Anyway, Dr.Freshh was a Zakia guy, but I don't know nothing about Superstar A-Mar. Who was he. Was it even a real single or what. I'm guessing it was, but google and ebay were no help to me. The single is a take-off of Kung Fu where the master teaches young A-Mar the art of DJ'ing and A-Mar keeps bugging the master cuz he really wants to show what he can do with 2 turntables and a microphone. Hilarity ensues. Any info would be great. Was this Superstar A-Mar's one and only moment of glory?
I'll throw one out there for you new skool kids too, while I'm at it. Tomorrow down the street is summa that avant whatzit stuff that everyone is always talking about. Here is the line-up:Sole, Buck 65, Grand Buffet(from Pittsburgh),and Kenneth Masters(from Philly-hey, wait a minute, what the hell kinda rap name is Kenneth Masters?!) Sound like fun? Opinions? Nate? Oops. Don't open that link unless you want your browser to freeze. Erm.

Try this instead.

Ah So, Ken Masters is some sort of spiritual rap progeny of Superstar A-Mar it seems. The plot thickens. And jeez, Nate, you can tell me if those guys are any good. I kinda trust your judgement. Pretend I'm just some guy off the street that never made fun of your favorite alt-rapper.

Scott Seward, Tuesday, 25 March 2003 04:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I seriously have no idea who all those guys are except for Sole, and he made fun of my favorite alt-rapper too so it's sort of a conundrum.

Grand Buffet are fantastic and hilarious. The white Outkast! Maybe.
