I just saw this on google's news portal. Kazem el-Saher (or Kadem al Sahir, as I think they are transliterating it on the site that has the article, which I'm sure is just as correct) is the most biggest living Iraqi pop singer. This could actually be okay, I think. I don't know why I'm so optimistic though since: I don't like Lenny Kravitz, and most of Kazem el-Saher's songs sound awful to me, due to the production and dreadful mish-mash of electronics he uses. He's a pretty good singer though, and I like some of the songs on the relatively old album I think is called
El Aziz.

It's about peace, of course. Simon Shaheen is also involved. I think he worked on that "Desert Rose" song with Cheb Mami and that guy who used to be in the Police. I think I heard this in the grocery story a couple weeks ago, and it was pretty good, though mostly I was pleased with the shock of hearing something Arabic in the grocery.

Bad Western pop stars teaming up with bad Arabic pop stars: classic or dud?

Lenny Kravitz' publicist today announced that the pop star has always made efforts to correct the misimpression that he is part Arabic and has never exploited the ambiguity of his identity to draw Arab fans.

Didn't Lenny and Sean Lennon ruin "Give Peace A Chance" with some "We Are The World"-ish come together attempt circa 1990?

It's a great news..an Iraqi and an American singing together for
peace. It's better than George Bush sending warplanes to kill the
Iraqis, who , unlike what the U.S. government media says , are a
wonderful and great people who were battered by the unjust sanctions
imposed by the U.S. on them ...
With this song we will be able to hear another face of America..the
good and promising face so that we could tell our children one day:"Hey kids.......there are some great Americans ...who oppose the
actions and criminal acts that some of the U.S. officials did..."
LET PEACE PREVAIL..........LET US LIVE HAND IN HAND.........
NO WAR...NO BLOOD.....NO OIL!!!!!
HOPE THIS SONG SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT THAT
