tracks that do not utilise percussion of any sort tho they may or may not keep some sort of time without the use of rhythmic drums:

Human 'Winter'
most Boards Of Canada 'interludes'
Cassius 'Protection'
Ben & Jason 'Air Guitar'
Vincent Gallo 'When'
Underworld 'Skym'
Doves 'M62 Song'
The Orb 'O.O.B.E.'
UNKLE 'Chaos'
Chemical Brothers 'Asleep From Day' and 'Dream On'
Spiritualized 'Ladies & Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space'
Mercury Rev 'Holes' and numerous songs from their albums

loads of acoustic rock and abstract electronica obviously - in fact maybe best not post anything from before 1975 because there'd be such an abundance and they'd all overshadow a lot of the aforementioned tracks (Dylan etc.), so more recent stuff i guess - anyone have more obvious pop examples?

Does Pole count? I'm not sure whether those crackles and chirps could be called "beats".

Sabres Of Paradise 'Smokebelch (beatless mix)' - as used on that old Orange phones ad

Serge Gainsbourg - Bonnie & Clyde...just an occasional closing hi-hat sound carries the song along.

"All is Full of Love"!

Not exactly a "more obvious pop example", but Buckethead's recent Electric Tears album has no drums or rhythmic instruments on it whatsoever. Tis really a quite gorgeous album.

bjork - all is full of love (the original album version)

Lots, lots (but not all) of Cat Power. I think The Covers Album may be completely percussion-less. There's plenty of acoustic acts that mostly eschew drums (Kings of Convenience, Iron & Wine) -- but I've been surprised at how popular Cat Power has become with that sparse sound.
