I've always maintained that Loveless looks exactly as it sounds.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 24 July 2003 07:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I agree with Nick - I've always believed that too: fuzzy pink guitar noize! (a compliment)

Robin Goad (rgoad), Thursday, 24 July 2003 07:19 (twenty-two years ago)

In Sides by Orbital is another. (My inability to link images sucks.)

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 24 July 2003 07:26 (twenty-two years ago)

it's so easy! just type 'i' followed (no space) by the image URL. eg

i http://www.lovelypictures.co.uk/pretty.jpg

but with no space...

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 24 July 2003 07:44 (twenty-two years ago)

But where do you find images from? (I assume the 'i' goes inside these < >.)

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 24 July 2003 07:46 (twenty-two years ago)

.... and of course:

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 24 July 2003 07:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick, if you right click on (just about) any image on the net it'll give you it's URL. Just put an i before that (no need for < or >'s at all!)

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 24 July 2003 07:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Cool. Remember when I learnt italics and bold and font sizes? Expect me to go nuts with images now...

Was gonna put Hex but it's not a big image on Amazon. This'll do; it's the late-night, blurry Koyaanisqatsi lighting that does it.

"Remember when I learnt italics and bold and font sizes?"

So how do you do italics and bold and font sizes? No-one seems to want to tell me.... can't think why not!

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 24 July 2003 08:57 (twenty-two years ago)

< b > words < / b > = bold
< i > words < / i > = italic
< font size=[number 1=smallest, 7=largest] > words < / font >
< s > words < / s > = strike-through
< a href=[web address] > words < / a > = hyperlink

Leave out spaces between < > and the content therein but not between the "a href" or the "font size".

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 24 July 2003 09:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe they should add that to the FAQ.

Right next to where I learned to post jpeg links.

Thank God someone put a Cocteau Twins album on here - all their sleeves are perfect housing for the music.

'Felt Mountain' by Goldfrapp is another perfect sleeve. And then they spoilt all that with Black Cherry....

well, the smiths covers and the artwork heritage they left to pop music, p.saville's work for factory, the pale fountains covers...

hebe cat (hebe), Thursday, 24 July 2003 12:09 (twenty-two years ago)

The Smiths covers - they're surely the best record sleeves ever?

Best ones? Shakespears Sister, Ask, Hand in Glove, Bigmouth...

russ t, Thursday, 24 July 2003 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

There should be a reverse thread for this, for totally misleading artwork.

"The Smiths covers - they're surely the best record sleeves ever?

I thought of The Smiths earlier. Sadly all their best sleeves seem to have been for singles rather than albums 'though.

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 24 July 2003 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I agree, Stewart.... didn't like many of their album sleeves, apart from 'Rank' and the debut. Hated Strangeways and Queen is Dead.... but their single sleeves - almost always fabulous.

russ t, Thursday, 24 July 2003 12:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Half of Loveless sounds like the pink cover, and the other half sounds like the blue picture inside the CD booklet.
