The video is fine as long as the sound is muted, although to me it merely plays out as a lesser version of Trick Daddy's "I'm a Thug" with a girl power slant.

With the sound on the entire thing is boring and anonymous and is probably the worst thing either Eve or Dre has released as a single. On the upside, at least Gwen Stefani sounds anonymous instead of sounding like Gwen Stefani.

OhmyGod, this video is terrible. OK, so I'm biased in that for some reason I just can't stand Gwen Stefani, but the whole cool-street-types-gatecrashing-posh-party-and-getting-the-stiffs-to- dance thing is so embarrasing. I've now seen it all the way through. Some observations:

- That blonde girl (The one with GWEN on her necklace, GWEN all down her trousers and NO DOUBT on the back for jacket - I don't know who she is) just dumps her car in the middle of the street. Has she no consideration for other road users?

- My God, most of the video is a posh party - I honestly hadn't seen any of this before. But DG's right, rubbish concept.

- That blonde one has a truly horrible beret on during the cutaways.

I don't get Gwen's style sense anyhow. I mean, she's got a muscular stomach, but a very boyish body - no tits, no hips. If I was built like that, I'd certainly not be walking around in a bra top that doesn't push up or add with hip huggers. It's like she's an extremely facial-femme drag queen, a slender boy with a girl's head stuck on. It just isn't very attractive to me at all. I'm glad she's happy with it but honestly, doesn't she have a stylist? Or honest friends? And her sudden thing with looking ghetto - she's just awful at it, and this is two videos in a row!

Argh. Gwen Stefani is the classic example of the unattractive pretty girl, IMO. She's got a pretty face. She's a pretty girl. But everything else about her is so violently unattractive that it just negates her actual looks. She's much prettier than Eve, but I'd date her before I went with Gwen.

Ally - I get yr point re Gwen's 'inept' style (though her stylist probably selected this as part of the whole no-class angle) but this was one of the highlights of the video for me. I am the anti- Cosmo!!! Or the anti-Cleo, Loaded, 'girl-power' garbage, post- modern feminist sexual liberalism, whatever ... whatever it is that tells you what is and isn't beautiful or useful ... and this doesn't just apply to the ideal body shape - for instance, they can fill their magazines with detailed guides to sexual techniques, and then just to spite them, I might think my boyfriend and I are cooler than other people because we're sexually incompatible! Secret aesthetics are the funniest jokes ... but you have to trust yourself to be clever enough to invent them, it does require self- confidence ... There's no social anxiety - I just think chicks with guy bodies shouldn't be walking around in their bras like they got something to show off up there. It's just not something I find at all flattering - there are certain styles that would flatter a pretty but uncurvy girl like Gwen much, much better and make her look anything from sophisticated to sexy to cute to whatever. The way she looks in that video, she looks like a trend victim - someone who is putting on an outfit cos it's what's in style or because J Lo wore it or whatever, and it's an outfit that just does NOT flatter them at all. It's like when my roommate tries to dress like me. I'm at least five inches taller than her and much thinner. It's not a matter of me = better or her = better, not at all. Neither is better or worse than the other. It's just that we shouldn't be wearing the same outfits in the interest of flattery.

I mean, I don't wanna see Calista Flockheart in Laeticia Casta's clothes. But on the other hand, Laeticia Casta would look like ass in clothes made for Calista Flockheart. That's not a matter of societal pressure, it's a matter of owning a mirror.

Oh, and I think Eve looks fine in the video, for a girl with paw prints on her tits. Her clothes are great.

I've seen that video a million times and I NEVER caught the plot until now.

Anyway, after this penetrating glance at what Gwen Stefani ought to wear in her videos, I can think of two things to say. 1) Gwen could wear a burlap sack and look good. She looks comfortable with herself which makes all dress aesthetics = moot. I can't believe I'm defending Gwen Stefani in any way, I mean I've always been put off by her whole thing, but not in this video, prolly cause 2) the song is just delicious and their attitude in the video is perfect. Video actually = enhancement of song for me.
