BEst Single bout Pot ever !

anthony, Saturday, 25 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Naah, that would be "Legalize It" or something. Unfortunately, Afroman seems to suffer from a lack of stamina normally associated with alcohol, as the song stops being funny two minutes into the first listen. Or maybe it was just that I was too high to understand what he was saying.

it's weird, i had never heard of this song until yesterday morning when my dad called and told me about hearing it on the radio, and then that afternoon i saw the jay & silent bob movie and it played over the credits, which means it had to have been around for a while now, at least a few weeks. i kinda like it, it's essentially one of those novelty hiphop singles that filled up the charts in the eighties. certainly the best song in the jay & silent bob movie, unless you count jay singing 'fuck tha police'.

If that movie can get this song on the charts, then here's hoping it can get the Time on the charts. And the best song in that film was, by far, "Letter From An Occupant." But I'm assuming you didn't hear that, or you wouldn't have said anything. ;-)

I'd heard people I didn't like talk about the song before I actually heard it, so I refuse to sit through it, of course.

Thank you, Keiko! I was filled w/ glee when I heard the New Pornographers in the background. AND just as Joe Quesada was about to get it on w/ Eliza Dushku. CLASSIC.

two months pass...
why in god's name do they have to reffer to HITLER in the end of the song?????????!!!!!!!!!

Josh shtantz, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Anthony my respect for you has halved now I've heard this. Unless you mean to say there have been no good songs about pot ever in which case you are right.

Tom, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ok, so someone else heard the reference to Hitler randomly thrown in about 2 seconds from the end. What is that about?

Ally, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hitler? Eh? This means I'm going to have to study the song IN DEPTH now. Grrr.

DG, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i was half being sarcastic but i still didnt get teh hitler refrence

anthony, Thursday, 1 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

After the above they also saying somthing about "skins", they are saying that they dont believe in hitler. what's that mean ?

eight years pass...

Dark horse contender for the 2000s decades trax poll. Way better than I remember it being when it was a hit.

This song is amazing. Especially when played very, very loud.

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 9 December 2009 12:51 (sixteen years ago)

Afroman is a surprisingly good artist!

i noticed his follow-up album (Drunk n High) at the library a while ago. The first few tracks were sequenced something like "let's all get drunk"-->"gotta stop drinkin"-->"i live in a van"

clotpoll, Thursday, 10 December 2009 07:35 (sixteen years ago)

Hahaha, it's like a single verse from Because I Got High spread out across a concept album.

Doctor Casino, Thursday, 10 December 2009 08:43 (sixteen years ago)

There should be a poll on this song's lines.

Wish Brad Nowell was still alive so we could make fun of the inevitable 2010 Sublime + Kottonmouth Kings + Afroman tour.
