Skydivers sort of have to wear them. But why musicians? Did anybody look good in one? Who looked the most ridiculous? Who is the most unlikely performer you swear you spotted so attired? What about capes? Fringe?

Joel and Mike on MST3K are of course the jumpsuited studs. Or something. Beyond that, I'll go for the Beasties' "Intergalactic" video, and didn't the Residents do something like that once in between tuxedos? Devo, of course...

As for capes -- ladies and gentlemen, RICK WAKEMAN! Jane the Wonderful claimed that Beck's keyboardist at his London gig before going off to support Radiohead was decked out in such a prog monstrosity.

Roger Manning from Beck's band did indeed sport a jumpsuit on the recent tour - However, just to up the ante on these jumpsuit parvenues being dicussed here he teamed it with a fetching floor length cape. All hail the goth astronaut look.

Damn - that'll teach me to claim to be a jumpsuit expert. I did see all of the Flaming Lips in enormous orange jumpsuits, but that was sno-mobiling rather than on stage.... What about the most recent outing? I saw Les Rhythm Digitales in matching white jumpsuits ,with bonus marks for having a silver Roland guitar synth - surely the perfect accessory? What about Missy Elliot? I'm not really sure what those things she wears are - and does anyone remember Snoop's finest hour - his TOTP appearance in a baby blue romper suit (really, that's the only way I can describe it ) All hail the G-Funk adult-baby look.

Elivs = surely the best jumpsuit wearer (sp?) in the hisotry of ever. He may have been fat, but at least he seemed to realise the ridiculousness of what he was doing and played it out to the extremes.
