i love how people keep reading my mind

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 8 January 2004 10:46 (twenty-two years ago)

i can't wait to download RAC's "structures" and LFO's "advance" and the Coco Steel & Lovebomb album and all the jimi tenor albums i don't have.

vahid (vahid), Thursday, 8 January 2004 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

but are they going to cheap?

vahid (vahid), Thursday, 8 January 2004 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

launched today! somewhere tell me where to start pre 95, i'm familiar with all the releases since but the rest is investigated except the obvious like autechre, boc, aphex, etc. what's the good/hard to find stuff?

jason m (jason m), Friday, 16 January 2004 00:41 (twenty-two years ago)

LFO "Frequencies" probably

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Friday, 16 January 2004 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

The Polygon Window record, but you prob already know about that

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Friday, 16 January 2004 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm downloading Plaid's "Rest Proof Clockwork" now. This system is fantastic! I feel like buying so much more!

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Their little music browser tool is really great, also. You can flick through 30-second segments of every song, "just like you would in a record store."

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:39 (twenty-two years ago)

As for price, it's $9.99 for a full album, and $4.99 for EP-esque releases. (as far as I can see) Individual tracks can be bought for $1.35 each. Damn worth it, considering the worthlessness of American currency.

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Still worth more than your wampum bucks down there, I think.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Surprisingly, due to the perceived buying power of the USD we can actually abuse our position to get goods cheaper using your currency. ;)

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:47 (twenty-two years ago)

update: I'm listening to the Plaid album now, and the quality of the encode is pretty much flawless.

*wails, gnashes teeth*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 16 January 2004 01:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Search: Sweet Exorcist, for a pretty good indication of the early Warp sound.

Jason J, Friday, 16 January 2004 12:32 (twenty-two years ago)

But Ambient Works I isn't there, is it?

Jim Eaton-Terry (Jim E-T), Friday, 16 January 2004 13:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Ambient Works 1 was on R&S if I remember correctly - certainly not Warp. I've just bought both Hangable Auto Bulb EPs (which would doubtless cost an arm and a leg if I was trying to find the vinyl these days) and the Drexciya EP (ditto, but this was also on CD). There are a few things I'd like which are still missing (the Woodenspoon EP, and the Autechre mail-order 12" which I have on vinyl but would like a good quality digital version of).

Andrew Norman, Friday, 16 January 2004 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Get the "Vic Acid" EP by Squarepusher - oh, and the whole Feed Me Weird Things album.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Friday, 16 January 2004 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

This is the place to ask - double vinyl compilations, early '90s, on R&S I think, black covers with white horses on - everyone had them. One volume had "He Chilled Out" on. What the hell were they called?

Jim Eaton-Terry (Jim E-T), Friday, 16 January 2004 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

In Order To Dance?

Stringent (Stringent), Friday, 16 January 2004 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think so -He Chilled Out isn't listed.

Jim Eaton-Terry (Jim E-T), Friday, 16 January 2004 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Secret Life of Trance (but they were Rising High not R&S)

Stringent (Stringent), Friday, 16 January 2004 14:47 (twenty-two years ago)

get both Broadcast 'Extended Play' EPs if you haven't already

stevem (blueski), Friday, 16 January 2004 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Not Secret Life of Trance - this is earlier - 90-91.

Jim Eaton-Terry (Jim E-T), Friday, 16 January 2004 15:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Any other tracks on there that u know of?

Stringent (Stringent), Friday, 16 January 2004 15:46 (twenty-two years ago)

IIRC, Dominator and Energy flash and Horsepower were on Vol I, while "He Chilled Out" was on vol III. Vol III would be about 91, I think.

Jim Eaton-Terry (Jim E-T), Friday, 16 January 2004 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

1 Modular Expansion - Cubes
2 Prodigy - Android
3 Ramirez - La Musika Tremenda
4 Lil' Louis - I Called U
5 Outlander - Vamp
6 Speedy J - Pullover
7 Richie Rich - Salsa House
8 Liaisons D - He Chilled Out
9 Jamie Principle - Baby Wants To Ride
10 Tricky Disco - Disco 130
11 John & Julie - Circles (Round & Round)
12 Set Up System - Fairy Dust
13 U.H.F. - U.H.F.
14 Rhythim Is Rhythim - Strings Of Life

Is it this?

Stringent (Stringent), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Geez, I didn't think anyone had these albums but me. I found my box of In Order to Dance 5 recently, all that secret life of Trance stuff.

I even found my old Hangable Auto Bulb ep.

I think its awesome that Warp have taken the initiative on this. Putting their stuff out at the nicest bit rate and without any copyright management is awesome.
