Inspired by jess' mention of Lil Wayne's "Shine" on ILM the other day.

So there's the first track. Next?

"Project Chick"?
"Still Fly"?

brrr. cash money?!?

paulhw (paulhw), Friday, 9 January 2004 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

are you saying "brr" at their huge amounts of ice?

definitely Big Tymers "Get Your Roll On", which I still think is begging to be used in a commercial for roll-on deodorant.

Al (sitcom), Friday, 9 January 2004 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

oh and "U Understand" and "Follow Me Now", Juve's most underrated singles.

Al (sitcom), Friday, 9 January 2004 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I like the radio version of "Cash Money is an Army" more than the album version. The cleaner lyrics flow better (I find this is often the case - maybe I'm just prude).

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 9 January 2004 18:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Big Tymers - Big Ballin'

Johnny Badlees (crispssssss), Friday, 9 January 2004 20:05 (twenty-two years ago)

everyone listed cool stuff.

the new juvenile is really good. add: "numb numb" and "bounce back," which has baby and a really neat hiccupping vocal sample thing. and "against the wall" from big money heavyweight and "this how we do it," of course.

why is everyone indifferent to no limit but got lots of love for cash money?

cloverlandthug, Friday, 9 January 2004 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

i meant "back up" from big money heavyweight. it's got a neat siren and lots of electronicy things and gun cocking sound effects and juvenile.

cloverlandthug, Friday, 9 January 2004 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

It's all a question of corporate identity.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 9 January 2004 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

And fat azzes.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 9 January 2004 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

compare and contrast the corporate identities of no limit and cmr.

cloverlandthug, Friday, 9 January 2004 20:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I've never really been into the way the No Limit cats rap. On the other hand, I find BG and Juvenile to be very entertaining. And Mannie Fresh's productions are truly amazing at times.

Johnny Badlees (crispssssss), Friday, 9 January 2004 20:22 (twenty-two years ago)

All the above are great of course but don't forget UNLV's "6th and Baronne" and anything by the late great Pimp Daddy.

adam (adam), Friday, 9 January 2004 22:10 (twenty-two years ago)

No Limit has Soulja Slim!

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 9 January 2004 22:16 (twenty-two years ago)

and early mystikal.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 9 January 2004 23:10 (twenty-two years ago)

but beats by the pound just don't have mannie's magic touch. the man really is some kind of mad scientist.

fiddo centington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 9 January 2004 23:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Indeed, Mannie Fresh could probably make it big if he realeased stuff like "Tha Block Is Hot" or "Get Your Roll On" as instrumentals. I think BG's Chopper City In The Ghetto has some of his best kept secrets as far as that magical Fresh sound goes. Knock Out, Thug'n, and Bout My Paper are all incredible.

Johnny Badlees (crispssssss), Saturday, 10 January 2004 03:19 (twenty-two years ago)

there was a release of cash money instrumentals, platinum instrumentals, with most of the same stuff as platinum hits minus 'shine' and 'project bitch' and a few others.

cloverlandthug, Saturday, 10 January 2004 05:01 (twenty-two years ago)

yes and i cant believe i actually bought it :(

minna (minna), Saturday, 10 January 2004 05:04 (twenty-two years ago)

and it clogs up bargain bins now

minna (minna), Saturday, 10 January 2004 05:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it worth getting Minna? I couldn't see the point without the rappers (the "Now Thing" syndrome lets call it).

Hot Boys' "Help" is still (still!) my favourite Cash Money track. But the whole of Guerilla Warfare is excellent. There were a few Young Turk tracks from late '01 that I was really into (very swirly psychedelic keyboards) but my computer lost them and now I can't remember what they were.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Saturday, 10 January 2004 07:11 (twenty-two years ago)

lil wayne ft baby - 'gangstas and pimps' -- more sweet, tingly soul like 'sunny day', my fav cash money style when im in love (see diverse - jus biz for the undie-rap version)

I KNOW TURKS COUSIN, Saturday, 10 January 2004 07:27 (twenty-two years ago)

biggie ft hot boys and big tymers - hope you niggas sleep (b.i.g. over m.f.?!!? lost classic), project pat ft hot boys - ballers (cash money remix), b.g. - remember me, baby - wont be coming back (kind of sucks but samples lionel richie)

I WAS LIKE, CAN I MEET TURK, Saturday, 10 January 2004 07:30 (twenty-two years ago)

fuck the world was kinda ruined for me after having ryan pfork use it to 'explain' how lil wayne was better than anything 2pac ever recorded bcz its 'like motherfuckin' punk-rock!!'

HE WAS ALL NAH HE LIVES IN N.O. MAN, Saturday, 10 January 2004 07:32 (twenty-two years ago)

btw does anyone else have a crush on the girl from 'i need a hot girl'?

SO I WAS JUST LIKE, OH, OK, AND KIND OF STOPPED CARING, Saturday, 10 January 2004 07:34 (twenty-two years ago)
