Four hour party mix - help!

Okay, so my friend knows these people who have opened a bar. As a gimmick, they only play music from this old tape machine, which they bought from a radio station. I have promised to make some mixtapes (the tapes are 4 hours long!), and this is where you come in:

What songs would you like to hear when you are out on the town, sipping drinks and enjoying yourself? I mean, I could easily make a list myself, but it should be interesting to hear what you people have to say.

It's not supposed to be dance music, but rather good stuff that gets a nice mood going before people piss off to the club or something. Some hip hop is allowed, but I am mostly looking for rock, pop, post-punk, soul, whatever. Anything goes, basically. Some hits now and then would be expected.

Four hours would be about 50 songs, right?

I'll start off with these five to get you on track:

Fun Lovin' Criminals: Bump
Elvis Costello: Blame It On Cain
Max Romeo: Chase The Devil
Jimi Tenor: Spell
Cody ChesnuTT: The Seed

Now you go!

"mostly looking for rock, pop, post-punk, soul, whatever. Anything goes, basically."

it essentially was on mine for a couple-month period and it never gets old. although it's frustrating as hell to try to play with a band because no drummer will ever match it's original beat

Charlie, have you ever played 'Thank You For The Music' in a bar before?

Many times! I confused the fuckery out of lots of people at Bar Broadway in Sydney by playing it a while back, but I won them back with my Justin Timberlake "Like I Love You"/The Cure "The Blood" segue...

Thinking about it, I make a point (ha) of playing "TFTM" or "Count 5,6,7,8" pretty much every time I get my hands on a decent loud PA.

If I ever heard luckiest guy.... in a bar, I'd leap over the counter, rip out tha tape and make the bar manager eat it.

...and oddly, I always play that too! so much so that I got a complaint for being dull. Heathens.

Oh, and on that note, just to add another fun thing to the list, Future Bible Heroes - "I'm A Vampire". There.
