here are the reissue covers (scroll down) http://www.crammed.be/crammed/soundclash/
also here's the web overview of the original classic Made to Measure series:http://www.crammed.be/mtm/mtm1.htm
>SUSSAN DEYHIM / RICHARD HOROWITZ Desert Equations (1987)
I love 'Majoun' too, they had a budget and the production is insane, merging western and eastern orchestral parts together seamlessly, there's almost nothing like that record. 'Desert Equations: Azax Attra' is much more of a band recording, a lot of recognizable late 80's drum and synth sounds, but Deyhim FLIPS OUT on this record, still coming out of Persian classical but also close to Galas or Ono. Though no one sounds like her really. The production might not be as polished as 'Majoun' (though I like it, it's got tension, it doesn't sound normal), but the earlier record's vocals are ten times as intense. Buy on sight. (I need to find a copy of 'Madmen of God'.)
Also Aksaq Maboul, both of their albums, impossible to quickly categorize other than RIO, absolutely wonderful...

"Global Soundclash" is a great place to start, but so far I've found very little that I dislike from this label (bought some things of theirs back in the day). You have to get the Honeymoon Killers album, too. Aksak Maboul is also excellent.

I also bought Deyhim's Madmen of God... ever closer to straight Persian classical. I like it but I like the earlier hybrid too.
The only one of these that I've heard and not liked is the Sonoko record -- produced by Colin Newman and Maboul, but her voice is very singsongy and evaded me every time. Haven't heard Karl Biscuit or Bel Canto. Absolutely every other record in the series, I love / cherish / unhesitatingly recommend.

I think Colin Newman's Commercial Suicide (1986) was one of the reissues. His best solo album!
between that, the first He Said album, and the Wire SnakeDrill EP, 1986 was the best year for Wire since 1979.

They have a thread of their own, but first up on your list should be Tuxedomoon's 'Desire' (altho not very representative of the general Crammed sound)

Sussan Deyhim & Richard Horowitz bore me though.
I associate both of the Tuxedomoon records with Ralph Records, but they'd have been on this list if I didn't
if you've gotten to a point where Deyhim's "I'm A Man" bores you, I'll have what you're having
