Men's Recovery Project: Classic or Dud?

We'e never done a full blown thread on these weirdos. I love them wholeheartedly, especially the Bolides over Basra LP and the 7" on Gravity. The ones I listen to least are the picture disc on Paralogy and the split with Sinking Body. I wish they'd do something fun again.

I haven't the slightest idea what Neil is doing now. Sinking Body stuff, I guess. And that KRAP record (noisy improvisations live w. M. Brinkman & Fast Forward).

i dont think MRP will record again for a long while -- they broke up and cancelled putting out Night Pirate, which was supposed to be their new one. supposedly Kill Rock Stars is supposed to be putting out a Greatest Hits thing this year.

side two is full of some seriously kraut-y grooves.

I've only heard The Golden Triumph On Naked Hostility, which is probably the closest thing I have to a hardcore album.

i have _bolides_, which was so good it got me in a rage to purchase MRP product. i never saw any other stuff for sale, though, so i haven't.

I'm listening to Bolides Over Basra again. This album is totally brilliant and remains thoroughly engaging even after many listens.

Search: "In Khartoum" "Egyptian Assassin"

Revive.

Great stuff.

Where's the love for their first album, Frank Talk About Humans? The 30 or so remixes are insane.

Greateest Hits double LP expected on Load sometime this year...

Bolides still remains the pinnacle. Amazing album. Where's Dave Fischer to tell his story about seeing Rah Brahs as MRP's backing band?

golden triumph of naked hostility is one of the great albums of the 90s. i haven't listened much to the stuff that came after for a couple of years, though i guess i should since everyone seems to think it's the best!

Ian and I were treated to a Neil Burke solo "Man's Recovery Project" show in like summer 2002. So funny.

They've got tour footage on the new KRS dvd magazine, too.

I did not like one I bought with a yellow cover, but now I wish I had it to see if I might hear it differently today. Can't remember if I still have it or traded it, but I haven't seen it in a long time. It had a lot of short, loud songs on it.
