at my job we use a lot of instrumental music . . . music that changes and is capable of evoking emotion, etc. particular pieces of music that can be a puncuation & the undercurrant at the same time . . . . can anyone recommend any? any genre is great. the more varied, the better, actually.

Try this thread: Where's all the contemporary instrumental music that isn't classical, jazz, New Age, electronic dance, or wild-eyed free improv?

But of course I was narrowing the category down a bit.

yeah, i'm aiming towards our specific needs . . . so i'm trying to narrow down a bit too. although, the stuff you eliminate we could do without as well....

There is all manner of Indian classical music that will fit any mood, need, spiritual quest, coffee break. Find an Indian grocery store and buy as many different cd's as you can afford and then listen to them and figure out which ones will fit best in the workplace.

nine years pass...

I am obsessed with one of the latest Rhino ceros, I mean series, Complete Pop Instrumental Hits Of The Sixties. One per year, includes anything that charted on the top 100. They're up to 1963 so far. Sorry Natalie Portman but this will actually change your life.
