I'm going with The Shins. James Mercer's lyrics freak me the fuck out. In a good way. Plus, The Ass Ponys, though good, were never anywhere near as fun in concert as The Shins.

"New Slang" = McDonald's fries.

Mildly curious as to the recent Ass Ponys reissues, anyone dared to relive the OKra years?

I've seen Ass Ponys cds in every single public library I have ever visited. No exceptions. I have lived in four different states, though I admit that Ohio was one of them. What does this say about the Ass Ponys?

I'll take the Ass Ponys over the Shins, easily. Nothing against The Shins, but they've never made an album as good as Some Stupid With A Flare Gun. Much better lyrics, too.
