AMA Regulars not on ILx

The thread about musicians having posted and the interaction about Jyoti Mishra inspired me. Which ama regulars have not posted here?

I suppose Gondola Bob has never been here - he is probably better off in rec.music.progressive and various avante garde groups. But has Persi ever posted here? How about Peter Prodge (well, I guess not...) :-)

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:19 (twenty-two years ago)

G*****a B*b is better off in quite a few places.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I suppose Gondola Bob has never been here

And I for everyone's sake he never does.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:21 (twenty-two years ago)

The Reverend Jack Godsey. Does/did Joe M. post here?

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I seem to recall GB had lurked and then complained about us elsewhere in a note then forwarded back here by someone else. Good.

Does/did Joe M. post here?

I thought he posted here on a semi-regular basis in the prog threads?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Geir, you realize this thread will only have relevance to an extremely small -- but elite -- portion of ILx? And fuck it, I'm gonna put a smiley here 'cause thats how I feel: :)

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, it already has five responses, so that elite are posting heavily anyway ;)

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, honestly, I miss a lot on ILx. There's still a lot of mega-posting regulars here I mix up to my complete dismay.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I mean, I'm not SURE that's him but I thought it was.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I suspected I saw him on some of the proggier threads but I wasn't 100%.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Did Persi ever post here?

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, you know who I'd like to see post here? The guy from the OLD OLD AMA who came by and said something along the lines "jeez, this place is the PITS now. it's all Oasis this and Britney that."

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I was always a little surprised that Persi never did post here.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Was Persi still posting along with us when we finally bailed in early 2000? I honestly can't recall (though I suppose an archive check would be handy there).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 January 2004 04:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I think he/she was. And Freaky Trigger even had an article or two by him/her.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 15 January 2004 12:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I miss the ama Gareth - nickname Grug or something? (I can only assume he wasn't norfolkwindmills Gareth!)

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 15 January 2004 12:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Persi: no. Rev Jack: no. Peter Prodigy DID!! on some Prodigy thread where he complained because somebody called it techno. Joe M certainly used to a bit, I haven't seen him for a while though.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 15 January 2004 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

What happened to Andrew Hime, he of alt.cosuard?

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Thursday, 15 January 2004 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

nickname Grug or something?

Gruf. He was a very good sort, I suppose things just ended up getting busy for him.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 January 2004 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark Bartlam posted to a lurkers only thread!

deX! (deX!), Thursday, 15 January 2004 14:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't do that! It took me long enough to adjust to calling you Dan and Lulu by her real name.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Thursday, 15 January 2004 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I got a message from Andrew Hime! Apparently I got recording credits for a Diskothi-Q song that was on mp3.com before the site vanished, and he wanted to know if I had it (which i don't, the band does). He's still to be found on the IDM list, I think. So, yeah, he's still bopping along just fine. Wondering if he's still a mad Madder Rose fan..

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 15 January 2004 18:38 (twenty-two years ago)

this was just weeks ago

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 15 January 2004 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd also like it if this guy posted here.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Thursday, 15 January 2004 18:53 (twenty-two years ago)

It took me long enough to adjust to calling you Dan and Lulu by her real name.

Heh, Dan I got down pretty easy but Lulu's shift took a while.

Cool to hear about Mr. Hime, hope he's doing well.

I'd also like it if this guy posted here.

Don't remember him at all. Huh.

Then there was Mr. Bazagoth and the person he defended so thoroughly...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 16 January 2004 03:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd also like it if this guy posted here.

Who is this? Julian White?

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 16 January 2004 15:55 (twenty-two years ago)

What is AMA anyway?

Sean (Sean), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

alt.music.alternative, a Usenet newsgroup where a segment of ILX posters first encountered each other online.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Who is this? Julian White?

Nope, different Rocklist. From reading the thread, I understand that it was a mailing list consisting of academics and other interested parties.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Friday, 16 January 2004 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

where a segment of ILX posters first encountered each other online

It was a strange, fumbling encounter to be sure (then deX the smooth loverman came along and we were saved).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 17 January 2004 00:59 (twenty-two years ago)

then deX the smooth loverman

SHABBA!

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Saturday, 17 January 2004 01:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, I'm sorry about that. It's a habit.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Saturday, 17 January 2004 01:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Another vote for Bartlam to come back, my fellow a.m.nin refugee.

bnw (bnw), Saturday, 17 January 2004 02:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sorry about that

In the words of Elvis T, you're not sorry at all!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 17 January 2004 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

HAHAHAHA I'm going to be walking around shouting "SHABBA!" at random people all day tomorrow.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Saturday, 17 January 2004 23:47 (twenty-two years ago)

There was a kid in my 8th grade science class who would shout "SHABBA!" endlessly. It wasn't until a few years later that an MTV Party To Go tape clued me in as to what that kid was going on about.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 18 January 2004 00:18 (twenty-two years ago)

EIGHTH GRADE???????

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 18 January 2004 00:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Anthony is a young 'un, Dan. We must not hate him for his youthful vigor.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 18 January 2004 00:53 (twenty-two years ago)

WE MUST DRAIN HIS VITALITY INTO THIS VIAL... oh, did I say that out loud?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 18 January 2004 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

...their source...their treasure...THE DANED CRYSTAL

*cue neat weird theme riff*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 18 January 2004 00:55 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
Hahahahaha what the hell was I thinking with that last post???

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Monday, 12 September 2005 13:58 (twenty years ago)

You were being a vampire. Did I ever mention the fake goth vampire song donut came up with, I think? It was part of our goth musical, and the final lines go something like this (delivered as slow semi-spoken recitation):

"I am a vampire
I avoid the sunlight's gaze
I am a vampire
And thus I live out
My haunted and damned days."

"Damned" pronounced with two syllables, of course.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 12 September 2005 14:23 (twenty years ago)

Is something riddling your cold, bloated breast, Ned?

nabisco (nabisco), Monday, 12 September 2005 14:36 (twenty years ago)

Ah, you should have heard the song we actually recorded. Opening lyrics:

"Liar liar, Jesus on fire
You crawl with me into a pit of desire
I scar your flesh, you give me smack
We read Propaganda and hit the sack."

Chorus, delivered early Sisters of Mercy style:

"And the dead will rise
And the blood will call
A million faces from the screaming wall
Bring disease
Doom, despair
AND DEATH."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 12 September 2005 14:37 (twenty years ago)

(Do I have tickets for Bauhaus on Oct. 29 at the Wiltern in LA? OH GIVE A GUESS.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 12 September 2005 14:38 (twenty years ago)

Please tell me that the music was a pastiche of "Oklahoma!"

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Monday, 12 September 2005 16:17 (twenty years ago)

No, more like a very lo-fi take on "Alice," but we had more splashy numbers planned.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 12 September 2005 16:24 (twenty years ago)

well "Alice" if sung by an even more sexually frustrated, amateur Rozz Williams.

I've unleashed the fucking goth too (Got my ticket to see the 'Haus in Seatown, Fri Oct 21st)

donut Get Behind Me Carbon Dioxide (donut), Monday, 12 September 2005 16:39 (twenty years ago)

SING FOR ME DORIAN

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 12 September 2005 21:01 (twenty years ago)

The Reverend Jack Godsey

You guys know Rev. Jack??? Man. It's a small Internets after all.
