I wish to celebrate life this spring with a Kraftwerk themed party. What do I need to make this tiny apartment party a smash hit.

I have decided that all mixed drinks will be named after Kraftwerk songs.

You've just described every college party I've ever been to. Trust me, thhis is a terrible idea.

Allyzay, what college did you go to?

Refuse to release the first three people who show up. Anticipate a 17-year wait before the final guest arrives.

Serve the "Trans-Europa Express": a shot of spirits from every country in the EU (don't forget those ten joining this year), stirred with a radio antenna in matching red and black cups.

Bar snacks: silicon chips, sauerbrauten.

Party games: bicycle racing

I think it sounds like a hoot. Potential problem and or bonus: someone might do an impression of Deiter from "Sprockets."

we should go to ROADHOUSE all dressed like KRAFTWERK circa MAN-MACHINE.

My apartment is comically small, cluttered and full of random shit like wiring, skeleton lights, heiberman (??) spheres, computers, music shit, etc.

How do I make it more GERMAN?

Jon Williams (ex machina), Friday, 16 January 2004 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I wish to celebrate life this spring with a Kraftwerk themed party.

we did that at college. everyone had to dress kraftwerk style and got "hello my name is _ " tags rechristening them rolf or werther or hilde, etc.
the mixed drink thing is a good idea. in addition to german beer, we just served lots of nasty scnapps that had vaguely germanic labels. once people had helped themselves to the liquor, we asked them to write down the name of someone in attendance that they had a crush on. the crushee was later handed a slip that said "so-and-so wants computer love with you."

buy a bunch of those handheld electric fans and demand that everyone speak through them.

i think this is cool, and very apt (it may not have been when Ally was at college). There are many options...

Red shirt, black tie
Suave suit ala TEE cover
Model
Robot
Tron reject

Wish I could go! (maybe)

How do I get boring college kids to act like moronic scenesters and actually enjoy this? I think most of my friends lack nostalgia for the unremembered 80's.
