I'm aiming for responses centering around the old mp3.com and such: home recordists.
My favs would be Mc Frontalot (www.frontalot.com) and Jeff/ADD, (www.actdead.com).
Anyone else got recomendations?

Silverman: http://www.silvermania.co.uk/

If it still works (their mp3s were hosted by mp3.com), download "Time Is A Blade" cos it's beautiful.

Thanks Alex the song I got off the Death From Above website is top notch!

Death From Above was pretty cool...nice....Hey Alex, do you like the A-Frames at all? They r my favorite band right now and they seem like something you would like.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Saturday, 17 January 2004 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Erm...

All of them. I'm 16, young (and anti-social) enough to have discovered every single artist I listen to on the internet.

My favorite would be Dokaka, who's this utterly insane Japanese guuy who does a cappella covers of stuff like Slayer, King Crimson, and Stevie Wonder.

A bunch of his mp3s, for legitimate download, are available here:

Hey Alex, do you like the A-Frames at all?

Let me second the A-Frames love, Alex, you might well appreciate them based on yer tastes. Donut Bitch is a big fan -- they're from Seattle, where he's at now -- and he can say more.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 17 January 2004 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay ned! They even have a ridiculous sticker blurb from Thurston Moore and Bryon Coley:

"...these guys come up with some great new scuzz-punk hump. It's one of the few great new American rock records to not reference no wave."

How could you argue with that?? Scuzz-punk hump! Doesn't reference no-wave! That's music, maaan.

seriously, though they are very very good....old Wire and Kraftwerk meets American muscle -- also very catchy and poppy.

Dokaka's cover of Iron Maiden's "The Trooper" made me cry with joy.

Where can I find the A-Frames site? I'm havin' trouble finding'em, I am.
