"what is this shit?"

What was the last album you put on that made you ask this question several times before turning it off and chucking it across the room? What will happen to this album next?

may pang (maypang), Monday, 19 January 2004 03:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Joni Mitchell - For The Roses

Will most likely get stuck in between all the other Joni albums I never bother listening to for similar reasons.

may pang (maypang), Monday, 19 January 2004 03:11 (twenty-two years ago)

i think "in it for the money" by supergrass was the last album to get this reaction from me. awful, awful record.

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 19 January 2004 03:13 (twenty-two years ago)

surf punks

‚¥‚ñ‚š (lenz), Monday, 19 January 2004 03:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm happy to say it's been a long while since I've hissed "fuck you" at my CD player while slapping the stop button. The album that I most associate with this act is We're Only In It For The Money by the Mothers Of Invention.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 19 January 2004 03:15 (twenty-two years ago)

the shannon noll single. sweet jesus, words cannot express.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 19 January 2004 03:16 (twenty-two years ago)

"Shootenany" by Eels. I actually made it all the way through the album, but it was like watching your once funny, life-loving, lovable grandmother reduced to a bedsore ridden life-supported coughing blood Alzheimer's patient.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 19 January 2004 03:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Ryan Adams' last album

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Monday, 19 January 2004 03:23 (twenty-two years ago)

dammit, Miloauckerman! You just reminded me I bought that piece of shit. Well, now my earlier post is just fucked.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 19 January 2004 03:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Kenna! The only album i heard last year that i really really didn't like. I couldn't even play the whole thing cuz i felt so dumb listening to it.

scott seward (scott seward), Monday, 19 January 2004 03:55 (twenty-two years ago)

and i didn't think i would hate it. i mean neptunes+new wave=i shoulda really liked it. but it gave me such a bad taste in my mouth. i should play it again and see what happens. maybe it was something i ate. maria put on the moldy peaches the other day cuz she was making a tape and it put a sour look on my face cuz it was so cutesy and i felt really dumb for even liking it for five seconds when i bought it and played it all of once and promptly forgot about it.it was like having a sour apple flashback.

scott seward (scott seward), Monday, 19 January 2004 03:59 (twenty-two years ago)

i had the same reaction to kenna scott.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 19 January 2004 04:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Well you're both wrong about Kenna. Dan and I say no. Ner. *flees*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 January 2004 04:31 (twenty-two years ago)

(Actually meant to say 'so' but I like how 'no' works there.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 January 2004 04:31 (twenty-two years ago)

that fucking worthless fucking piece of shit new Massive Attack record!! Biggest career nosedive EVER!!!

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Monday, 19 January 2004 04:33 (twenty-two years ago)

At the risk of incurring wrath and ire, I have to say The Rapture.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Monday, 19 January 2004 06:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Paris by Malcolm McLaren. Terrible, terrible, terrible...and really frickin' pretentious. And he had to drag poor Catherine Deneuve and Francoise Hardy down with him. I don't want this one to even be within ten feet of my other CDs. And the bonus disc of instrumentals is completely pointless and indulgent. Worst $3 I ever spent.

also,

Lust by Ambitious Lovers. GODAWFUL. They had to drag poor Caetano Veloso down with them, and the Jorge Ben cover is really bad. Worst $0.20 I ever spent.

Ernest P. (ernestp), Monday, 19 January 2004 07:14 (twenty-two years ago)

The Henry Cow/Slapp Happy record.

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 19 January 2004 07:28 (twenty-two years ago)

i'll prepare for the hail of stones.. but that Outkast snore-a-thon.

searchanddelete, Monday, 19 January 2004 08:29 (twenty-two years ago)

the advance of the new Walkmen. ugh ugh ugh.

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 19 January 2004 09:03 (twenty-two years ago)

The Love Below

What will happen to it next? I will sort through it and work out the tracks I do like and rip them to my hard drive I'd guess.

I think there are MP3s I've had this reaction to since.

I don't get promo records otherwise I'm sure I'd be doing this daily.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Monday, 19 January 2004 10:01 (twenty-two years ago)

einar orn: ghostigital. shite album, will be traded to summin' else asap, if anyone wants it.

Jay Kid (Jay K), Monday, 19 January 2004 10:07 (twenty-two years ago)

i've usually been lucky with things i've chosen to purchase, in that even if the whole thing isn't absolutely brilliant, there's at least something to redeem it.

last experience (and one of the few i've had this way, actually) where the whole thing was completely unsalvageable was that Shizuo Vs. Shizor album. didn't even make it through one whole listen before making Big Plans to sell it off---something i rarely do.

janni (janni), Monday, 19 January 2004 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Welcome Interstate Managers

What will happen to it next? I'll find it behind my computer desk when I either move or rearrange my bedroom.

rainman (rainman), Monday, 19 January 2004 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha, this is semi an actual criterion I have for deciding to give a bad review to a record.

dleone (dleone), Monday, 19 January 2004 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

The AudioBullys -- went back to the HMV and got Serge Gainsbourg - Melody Nelson;

Joss Stone - went back to the HMV and got White Stripes;

Arthur Russell - sitting unloved and without its case on top of my listened pile.

Ignore, Monday, 19 January 2004 16:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Arthur Russell - sitting unloved and without its case on top of my listened pile.

So you're saying you're sending it to me instead.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 January 2004 17:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Pyrexia, Cruelity Beyond Submission. First of all, what the fuck does that title even mean? Secondly, it's "cruelty," not "cruelity." Third, blending Sick Of It All-style hardcore and bad Megadeth ripoffs didn't make you innovative in 1989, and it sure doesn't play in 2004.

Phil Freeman (Phil Freeman), Monday, 19 January 2004 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Uh Phil, turn it off, it's not giving you pleasure. :-)
The utterly sublime Bobby O produced Pet Shop Boys' "Why don't we live together"

nathalie (nathalie), Monday, 19 January 2004 19:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, I turned it off already. Now I'm listening to Bob Seger.

Phil Freeman (Phil Freeman), Monday, 19 January 2004 19:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I had the same reaction to the Kenna record too!

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Monday, 19 January 2004 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

You people are INSANE. I think I will play it next after the Motorhead is done.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 January 2004 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

are we, ned? are we insane? or have you finally gone completely and utterly MAD?

N.P. - Willie Hutch - The Mark Of The Beast

scott seward (scott seward), Monday, 19 January 2004 19:33 (twenty-two years ago)

or have you finally gone completely and utterly MAD?

I wasn't there already? I must try harder.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 January 2004 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, Matos, so the new Walkmen's ugh ugh ugh?

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Monday, 19 January 2004 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)
